Explains why they're so pissed off all the time. Wouldn't you be annoyed if some big fat arse was always parked on your head when you're trying to rest :)

I would almost agree with that, however, just to keep the job market growing, I'd do something a tad different:

0.5-0.85% state income tax on citizens, flat sales tax of about 0.5%.  Prohibit any other taxes from being implemented, or any current taxes from being increased.  Net result:  if the government wants more income, they have to make more jobs.  This results in more residents spending their income on commercial items, which helps feed the sales tax.

And the income tax would scale up slightly as the overall income of the resident  increases.  And the forced increases in the number of in-state jobs means you'll have a larger follower base for when the revolution comes. :D

Also put high tarriffs for inports and outports (other states in the US included, as is the rest of North America, to hell with NAFTA) so that jobs are kept within the state.

Ace, you do know that States can't tax each other, don't you?  You probably do, but since I agree with you on the NAFTA thing I have to make sure.

I do, but JCD's plan would work better if other states were taxed too :drevil:

A strong internal economy can create quite a nasty war machine, look at WW2 Germany or Japan for an example.

Well, you need to remember that Germany and Japan at the time had to import (and continue to do so, I guess) vast quantities of raw materials.  So a certain amount of trade is required.

Abolish (well, not abolish since that's not within the powers of a governor, but reject) the Partiot Act, as some states have already done.

Push through some legislation to get in good with big businesses. They'll owe me in the future when I am again a powerless nobody.

Why?  What'd we do to you?

1.  Institute Term Limits on ALL major public offices, senators, congressmen, judges, the works.

2.  Throw out the current tax code, instead using a federal sales tax.  This is the only truely fair consumer tax as it only taxes those that spend money.

3.  Delete all unfair to America trade agreements such as NAFTA and GAT.
So as through a glass, and darkly

Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.
