So, I had my annual review at work yesterday and my boss gave me a decent bonus (but only $1,500 more than last year... and I did 10 times more than the year before), a new title (assistant VP of acquisitions) and an 11% raise. I argued with her that I should get at least a 20% raise b/c that's what would be my salary range if I was in the market now, with the 2 years experience I have here. She told me that she would discuss it with the other owners and the Human Resources department (don't even get me started on that one) and would get back to me.
Comes back later in the day and tells me that she couldn't justify giving me any more than what she gave me because I don't have my Masters degree. That it was a huuuuge hole in my resume and in my skill-set. If I had it, she said I would be more of a value for her. Most of this, so you know, is an excuse by her not to give me more money

But she's right. I should have my masters. And I should have gotten it when I got out of the Uni 4 years ago. I didn't have the money then, but I think it's high time I went back. The good thing is that my company has a program where they pay a percentage of tuition and books depending on your grades. For instance, if by the miracle of life I get an A in grades, the company reimburses me 90% of tuition and books. The lowest they go is 50% reimbursement if I get a C.
I'm just dreading going back to school *sulk* I haven't had to open a book in 4 years. Now I'm going to have to take weekend and night classes... AND HOMEWORK... ugh. I don't even remember half the things I learned

Anyway, who has gone back to school after being away from it for so long? And I don't mean summer vacation. How'd you guys feel about it? Was it hard getting back in the groove?
