So who's going to make the HLP server?
What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet sweet music? - Refused - Liberation Frequency.

the game seems entertaining enough. Not that much graphical advancement from 2003 but that doesn't matter since it still looks pretty enough. And what really matters... no lag with full graphics :D
Habeeb it...

Silent Hill 3 is 5GB to install as well. I can only afford to have a single huge game on my computer at once. Games are starting to get damned huge. Thankfully at least they're starting to come on DVDs so there's less juggling involved in installing them. I only have to juggle things into the trash instead to clear enough room now.

As I've said above, a large chunk of those 5.5 gigs will probably be the 3D software a tutorials.

Comming off of XMP, I thought the vehicle controls rocked. Its all a matter of perspective. The fact that I wasn't crashing into things ever 2.3 seconds allowed me to actually enjoy driving the vehicles.

To quote; "The minimum install reportedly takes 5.5GB"

Which i would interpret as the bare essentials of the game - ie. not tutorials, no modding software, and possibly no video/audio that could be streamed.

Sweetness. The demo just got released for Mac and Linux. :D

It's good to see them supporting all OS' - the sooner more companies do the same, the better,

I'm having some issues with the game at the moment (it looks kinda ****, but runs badly).

That said, everything seems good. Onslaught does indeed rock, and so does assault (a lot more "story" to it... certain objectives that makes sense etc.) So, so far so good.

Does no one read anything?

The Demo has lower-resolution graphics than the full game, because of the size required by them. And thus, the graphics and performance of the demo are radically different. Btw Thunder, I'm using a 1.8XP/GF3 with no frame problems at all, so you need to seriously sort out your system.

Oh I read, but I doubt you'd expect me to recite Shakespeares complete works... likewise I'm not going to trawl through readmes and what have you to discover differences in textures between the demo and the full version. They should make such information more obvious.

As for sorting my system, I'm all ears. What've you got yours set to etc? Given I can run most other games out there with no problems at all I'm understandably reaching the conclusion that the game is to fault - not my system.

Not to sound a smartarse of anything, but the file is called a 'read me' for good reason..........

Do you read the EULA for every piece of software you install? Or the read me for every program? I doubt it. It's a common known fact that they all contain mostly the same information and that it's only really necessary to read them if you experience issues with the software.

The readme?  Yep - because it's written at the latest possible stage before shipping whereas manuals are normally written much earlier (for printing reasons).

I rarely read manuals either. I've played enough games and/or used software to know the basics of what I need to know to get started. Of course if I have issues I'll reference the read me, any manual or online aid as a first course towards solving the issue.

Suffice to say, when you download a demo you expect it to be just that. If there are changes like lower resolution textures packaged with the demo as opposed to the full game then I'd expect it to be made slightly more obvious since - at least where FPS games are concerned - graphics are part of the bread and butter.

Well, i'm not sure how/where else they could put it... although wasn't it also shoved at that 'buy me!!' screen at the end which no-one ever reads?

NB:  they did the same thing with the previous UT2003 demo, too.

If they put it on the "buy me" screen I certainly haven't read it... sorry but things like that really bug me. I'm trying to quit the demo, not seek further persuasion through advertising.

Perhaps, when entering the graphics options screen, a popup was displayed stating that high resolution textures are only availbe on the full game. Most enter that to change their controls etc (and the graphics tab is the first to show up when you click on settings) so it'd be hard to avoid.
