Does anyone know where I can get the music from the Freespace 2 intro movie?

The Intro movie music is not in any of the VPs IIRC. It was floating around here somewhere, on somebody's site a while ago. Check over at the VWBB for a thread on this. I think it had an answer.

I'm still waiting for my Anniversary Ed. preorder (I'm one of the unlucky bastards who stumbled upon this game far, far too late. HotU doesn't cut it) and the sound only intro file o nthat site has me really wanting to see the actual thing.

Kind of shows how far ahead of it's time Freespace2 was. They were willing to have a 5 minute long cutscene back then. Very few games do that even now

too bad it wasn't very good quality, the laser effects and most of the ships lookt realy bad, FSO in game action looks 10 times better easily.

now the FS1 intro on the other hand was a ****ing work of art, were is that damned thing by the way, I was just looking for it the other day, I did manage to get hallfight, but the intro I could not find

Hmmmmmmm.. I think the movie effects were deliberately kept simple. Rendering up 5 minutes of animation, even on a high level computer can be long winded if you have things like speculars, volumetrics and reflection/refraction. 3DS/Max is a bloody good rendering Engine , but Interplay were on a time budget Also, I think the Poser Engine was used for the scenes with people in, and Poser is far from the fastest render engine ever written.

Nonetheless, The storyline content of the movie is up there with the Diablo series, which can't be bad

You know, I've actually re-encoded all the FS2 movies in slightly better quality (same file sizes) since codecs have improved since they were first encoded.

Also, I've fixed the glitches in the avis that I could find (intro has glitch in beginning, one of the monologues fade to black and stay black for 10 seconds, etc.)

I don't have webspace, but if anyone wants me to upload them somewhere, just ask.



The FS1 avis mostly look good to me though, so I'll leave those alone.
