Ebay, whats that all about?
Currently trying to get myself a cheap PCI TNT2 or something like it to help optimize this project for low spec systems.

Just been outbid for one, 21 pounds it went for, seems a bit much to me, for twice the price you could get a:

ATI Radeon 9200 64MB DDR AGP

or

Nvidia Geforce MX4000

I wish I had two AGP slots....

TNT2 PCI is pretty uncommon imho...
The GFMX4000 is almost as crappy as you can get, but since it supports htl won't do good for low spec testing...

I have like 3 old agp cards, one is an old tnt2.  If I don't need it for my computer headaches, I'd be willing to donate it to the SCP.

The thing about ebay is that you still can find deals there. such as a Laserjet 1012 which is 180 on pricewatch. if you play your cards right you could get it for 160 on ebay sometimes. You just have to wait till the very LAST MINUTE to bid. I also just recently snagged a poster of Last Of the Mohicans for 10 with shipping. But As I was saying you can get ripped off there but you need to be a smart shopper. I am sure someone of your your(RT) programming ablilty knows how to shop smart as well.

I needs to be a PCI card sadly, Im not willing to risk damaging my motherboard changing between AGP cards all the time and I dont want to have a crap card in my system.

But thanks anyway J3Vr6, thats very generous of you.

There are a few left, my limit for a TNT2 is £20 including postage, I'll just have to keep on bidding and hope one of them comes through for me.

A little on the expensive side, ebay will hopefully provide me with better value. If I should get really stuck I can always come back to this site though.

90% of the stuff on ebay comes from pawn shops. they typically drop things and most of the time there is something wrong with the item. most ebay sellers dont know about esd an usually handle the cards directly in an attempt to identify it. one of my former co-workers listed an add on serial port as a wireless network card. i personally dropped every third dvd plaer. a typical aproach to making monye is to ship broken items, then blame ups and collect shipping insurance. id advise against using ebay.

[color=66ff00]It has 64megs of DDR, not sure about the speed though. It's PCI, I wouldn't have said if it wasn't. ;)

Would it do the job for you?

Nuke, that's just silly. There may be people who do that, but, that's what ratings are for, and feedback.

I have never had a problem with hardware purchased from ebay. I have bought servers, network cards, cameras, software, games, etc.

Correction: I had a problem with one server, the vendor replaced it immediately. The trick is to look at the rating of the seller, and at their recent feedback.

I have been doing it for about 5 years, and have made hundres of transactions. You just have to pay attention to what you are doing when you bid.

If you are willing, I dont mind giving you the cash I would have spent in ebay. But I currently have two bids on two seperate TNT2's at the moment, I'll wait for them to be overbid to someone else first (they go in 6 days). I do expect to be overbid.

Then I'll contact you on this, 64MB VRAM is probably more realistic min spec for fs2_open than 32 really and it would be really good to have a GF card and a ATI card for testing.

Note to Phreak: I will only be able to run my primary card on OGL fs2_open without code changes and I intend to keep my faster card the primary if I get a choice.

RT, wait until about 1 minute before the auction closes, you are falling to 'hangers' who will bid a tiny amount more than the current price at the last moment ;)

The current bid is not always the highest bid set and sadly I have to sleep and goto work etc. Anyway Maeglamor has made a much more interesting offer.

[color=66ff00]Yeah, you can have the card for the cost of a padded, self addressed envelope.

PM me for details of address etc.
