My v4.3 has developed a bug of somesort.
Sometimes, aftera while, it refuses to do any sort of point-editing.
So I can't edit vertices, edges or faces. I select one and the edit options just stay blank. If i save the scene or the object, and then load, same deal. If I start a new scene it sorts iteslf out.

So everytime I start somethin' I never know if I can finish.
Anyone else had this ?

I have the same thing with 3.2. The model you want to edit became unstable. I used tons of Object Union, and I suppose they caused the problem. This is a reason I cannot make LODs for already existing ships for Star Wars conversion.

KARMA gave me a good advice about this(It did not work for me, but maybe you are luckier): Open LithUnWrap, and resave the .cob as TrueSpace 1 format. Reopen the cob file in TS. See if that works.

I suppose you already triangulated your model(s).
[EDIT] All you can do is to move them, right?

I did a boolean subtraction maybe that messed things up ?
It's those damn booleans again isn't it ?
(I'm still waiting for Caligari to put out a good offer on v5 btw.)

I tried your tip Top Ace but no luck. Thanks though.

And I don't bother with triangulation. Spend too much time removing un-necessary edges.

I can move vertices. Can't even select faces or edges.

Same here.
And yes, I accuse the boolen by spoiling our models.

Maybe saving in another file format with TrueSpace? It has a slight chance to succeed, but it worths a try anyway.

  • This site stole my work
Run the model through solidify.tsx . Worth a shot.
Be warned: This site's admins stole 100s of hours of my work. They will do it to you.

The problem is a bad union. Save before you make a union. Then try to add vertex...if it doesn't work, than the union was bad, and you should load your scene and try moving the objects just a tad..

Allso, this can happen more often when you're unioning multiple objects and after that try to add vertex..

If that doesn't work, try triangulating the model and just deleting the excess edges....
I allways use boolean and it works for me...

At least you're struggling with it to get results. I gave up. ;)

to remove triangulation just substract a non intersecting object
try also the try to fix bad geo button (if avaiable), triangulate, try to save to 3ds or other formats using an external prog  (lithunwrap, 3dexp) and then convert back to cob.
try to surround the object with another cube, and use boolean intersection.
save a lot and revert to last save when happening those things

Thanks for the thoughts guys.
What does solidify.tsx do, BTW ?
I've got it in my plug-ins, but when I click it doesn't appear to do anythin'.

*edit* Oh yeah, I nearly forgot. Is there a better way to texture a corvette sized ship other than painting faces with V "tile" tetures ?

I'm thinking Uvmapper or Lith, though I don't know the difference between the two, or their limitations.

I have just noticed something on my non-solid model. This model has the same problem than yours:

Apparently, there are twice the number of polies than vertices. Can this be the problem?
