Tonight's episode of Enterprise
Was this the season finale or have they finally outdone the ending of Best of Both Worlds pt.1?

Wow!  Tis truly a cliffhanger!

The design of the J was kind of depressing, I refuse to believe that a saucer that large can be propelled by engines that small, regardless of advances in warp field theory or quantum dynamic processing.

Pretty impressive :)

I was half expecting it to be a StarWarsy episode with the flying into the weapon, destroying it, and then Daniels saving Archer at the last minute and telling him to work out a treaty if possible.

What was done instead, was much more interesting for where the story was obviously heading.

The Enterprise getting torn apart was awesome, until of course the little bodies flew out of some of the breaches... :sigh:

It's going to be interesting to see how they get out of this situation. Somehow I think though that the NX-01 is no longer spaceworthy and the NX-02 is going to be designated Enterprise and Archer will get command of it.

I did like the J mixing the D and E design, but in my opinion I think it looked too low-tech for the period it was supposed to be in. (I'd expect the ship design philosiphy to change in the 200 years since TNG/DS9/VOY. A ship closer to the timeship that they had in the earlier Enterprise episode when the Tholians attacked.) If anything that would have been a good F or G design.

Of course, my main question is how do the "evil shadowy figures" who are bossing the Pseulobon(sp?) as well as the Tholians relate to the war with the Builders.

No, I think the shadowy guy is either one of the Sphere Builders or a Vulcan.  Remember how they place such emphasis on how the Vulcans were holding back the warp development program.

but Vulcans were allies in TOS and TNG, I don't see how it would be logical for them to turn on them in the 27th century. though that doesn't mean that they havn't been influenced by someone from the future

Being allies doesn't mean a rogue cabal couldn't act to change history.  I mean Vulcans were kind of prominent before Humans arrived on the galactic stage, then they kind of faded to the background, by the 27th century maybe some of them have grown sick of it.  Granted that's an emotional response, but if they are mucking with the past they aren't very stable are they?

no, I supose not.

though I would think Romulans would be a better suspect (given that Romulans seem to be well ahead of there suposed technological curb, though that was suposedly a continuity error)

according to an interview i read, when the writers came up with the shadowy guy, they didn't even know who he was. they were gonna make it up when the time comes.

Hands up, who thinks the Shadowy Guy is a Romulan?

Thought it'd be pretty damn funny if it was Captain Braxton.

But has anyone considered that all the things we've heard about the future might be true? Maybe the Federation does wipe out the Xindi 400 years in the future. Hell, they almost did it to the Dominion. Shadowy Guy could be a Xindi from the future.

I see a few main possibilities:
1. Archer ("Luke I am... your future!")
2. Daniels (Federation using the "shadowy figure" for some of the more questionable things they must accomplish in the cold war)
3. Romulan (The Earth-Romulan war is soon, but why would the Romulans want to help Archer save Earth as opposed to allying with the Builders?)
4. Apophis (Oops... wrong show...)

Of course it could always be Degra(sp) as he seems to be becoming a major character... (in some ways more fleshed out then some of the Enterprise crew)

I do think that the Federation failed to protect the Xindi, as it appeared that the entire expanse was destroyed by the anomalies by the time the federation was able to fend off the Builders from what Daniels said.

Section 31?

And maybe the Xindi blame the Federation as part of the bigger picture.

Someone is obviously trying to **** the Federation over and maybe the future-Xindi being caught in the crossfire prompts them into action. But the Federation are the only ones they can get at.

The episode was pretty cool, if it didn't get ratings with that show, then I don't know what they need to do.  Bad ass seeing the little bodies fly outta the hole.  They were getting owned.  I bet you that in the next episode Degra, the black xindi, and furry xindi come to their rescue seeing how cruel the reptile xindi's can be.

The Shadowy guy... Hmmm.... I think it's Al from Quantam Leap :)  Remember the first episode where Archer was talking to him and fighting some cloaking guy?  He dives out of the room and gets teleported.  What does he say? "Oh boy..." a la Quantam Leap.  Now THAT would be a twist...  And no, I don't really think it's Al from Quantam Leap.

It's getting moved to 9pm :(  For a friggin video game comedy show called Game Over... Ugh... Maybe the rumors at Cinescape are true...
