  • Already told you people too much!
I hate people who follow other people's fashions.  It's all about brutal and evil gothics and yet know one does anything about it. That's culture around my area

But music is something else, it touches your soul
Rock is best when your mad
Rap is best for in the sack:D
country is... well I'm not to say, I hate it really

When did Nirvana become 'classic'?

Jesus. I feel old suddenly.

  • I'm a magic man, I've got magic hands.
I wear black regularly.
Abercrombie is hardly punk. Try closer to pop or prep and you're there.
A poser is someone who pretends they're something they're not. Thus, they are "posing".
R&B is good for in the sack.
Nirvana is over a decade old and is undeniably classic, whether it be now, five years ago, or 20 years from now.

Next Columbine gunman? :p

Seriously though Punk only came along cause the music of the 70's was getting too long and to self indulgent.

The same sort of thing is happening again. Almost all the music in the charts is made by bands designed to appeal to 10-14 year old girls so people are starting to listen more to indie bands in the same way that grunge took off in the 90s.

anyway i too hope pop punk dies a horrible death. The culmination of its poser aspects being when a brittish band called 'busted' (thanks god you americans havent heard much of them, count yourself lucky) covered teenage kicks. They too consider themselves punk, but are even more pop like than say avril lavigne.

it is a bit of a fashion trend, I was appalled to see a childrens tv presenter one morning 'punked' up in a sorta 'Look at me im with it' way. i dont dress punk and ive only been to a few gigs, but i love punk and totally appreciate its message and meaning.

Don't get me started on that travesty!

I tend to agree with Bill Hicks on this one.  (slight paraphrasing)

Next Columbine Swordsman :D

I havn't listened to the radio in nearly two years, I stoped when one day I realised all the music being played (in the five minutes between half hour comercal breaks) sounded the same and it sounded like it was being sung be kids, it sounded like 14 year olds all of it.
the only band the makes anything aproching decent music currently is System of a Down.

"I want them to ****ing play with one hand and put a ****ing gun in their mouth with the other and go "I hope you enjoyed the show" **BOOM** NURSSSEEEE NURSSSSE"

Classic.

As for the whole issue of posers, leave them be, hopefully a few of them will go on to discover real music, I see all these ****ty pop punk bands as stepping stones on the path to musical enlightenment, I'm sure even the most die-hard Good Charlotte fans are eventually going to wake up and realise they are **** and want to explore more avenues.

I listen to Nightwish. They're more of a combination of rock/opera than punk.

I stopped listening to punk music when EVERY SINGLE BAND started to sound the same.

Meh, I can stand the commercial "punk" for a short while... the music isn't nearly as bad as pop. But it's not my music of choice - and I really can't understand the hordes of teens who mindlessly follow a group of bands that are so shallow. Evidently with bands such as Linkin Park a few catchy lyrics are enough to snare people - and granted some of the lyrics do hit home on my angsty side - but if you spend to much time listening to it then it really does affect you in a bad way. Certainly not a good role model for teens.

Yeah, but Sum 41 and Avril Lavigne are not punk by any definition of the word. You shouldn't judge the whole genre based on it's bastard offspring. For me, punk is the only (if not the only then certainly the best) type of music that carries with it a message. That, and its sounds awesome.

That is not to say that there aren't new punk bands that aren't good, its just that the majority of what the media covers as punk is boy-bands with black t-shirts and messy hair.
