What 3D Programs are best suited to making freespace2 models?

My experience with 3D only goes as far as Macromedia Flash and Maxon's Cinema 4D (Basics Only). Since I haven't touched on 3D for a while I thought I might come back but I'm stuck on choosing between Truespace5/6 or Lightwave 3D 7+. I'm also intent on learning about the conversion process from either of these programs to the fs2 model format, which hopefully isn't daunting :) Any tips or advice for a beginner (in most aspects) is welcome :nod:

Well, you have to use TS at some point in the development, so I use only TS.

Oh course, everyone has their own preferances, so really you need to find out which program suites you best.:D

hehehehe The thing is, the only correct answer is

'Whatever works for you and Truespace' (Yes, this can be Truespace and Truespace ;) )

For me, It's Lightwave, DeepPaint 3D, UVMapper, Photoshop and Truespace

you know you CAN write plugins for PCS to be able to directly read the model format of the others - the SDK is out there


i'm sick of people *****ing about this when the power is in their hands to fix it (and none of you seem to be *****ing, this thread just brought it to mind)

I swear at TrueSpace. Just downloadeth the TrueView plugin. Also, learn LithUnWrap to 'eliminate' the texturing hot water.

since i don't use those programs i'm not familiar with structure, etc and how they would save it into a model file to be able to convert
