I didn't really like the teal afterburners, so i photoshop'd them orange.  Then i sort of got carried away and changed all of the thruster glows and afterburner trails.  With the permission of the people who made them initally I will post screenies and a pack, till then, heres what i did:

-Increased brightness, not too much to be washed out, but they look more powerful

-increased width of burner trails, again with the power, but these got a little washed out

-made afterburners orange, so that they match the trails.  I like the firey glow of orange better than green for some reason.

I just used photoshop and ran some filters over the original improved ones, if you want screenies, yell at me.

Prt Scr, switch to Photoshop/PSP/whateva, CTRL-V.

That's at least one method.

Edit: DURR DURR I AM AN IDIOT. www.imageshack.us is a free hosting, acts a bit erratically from time to time. Then just use the IMG tags, below the smilies.

how big are they?

if under 3MB total, email to [email protected]

put it alll in a rar, please, easier for file handling, i'll upload unrared screens.

If those AB trails actually followed the ship's path (particle-like) that would look awesome.  As it stands I have fears about those things whipping about.  Also, lots of chances to intersect them in battle.

I prefer my 'original' versions

- The non afterburned ones look cleaner ( a lot )
- They're symmetrical (these look a bit twisted on some angles, specially the vasudan ones)
- The afterburner's teal (that's personal taste here)
- Those 'beams' coming out of the engines look most odd, and they look even more odd in-game as I know how that 'trail' system works...

The yellow/orange afterburners look *MUCH* better than teal, IMHO. (then again, I'm a bit of a purist)

I like the idea of having part of the engine glow to the turning trail effect like Homeworld. (a lot of these glows seem to be large enough to do that type of effect)

OK, i got rid of the washed-outness of the trails, and the only thing thats wrong with them is that they last too long, maybe Bobbau can have a look at that one.
