is there a way to make the entry map it just done a high speed jump like in star trek and in starlancer?

Are you talking about a way to simulate the way ST ships warp out, with the rapid accelerationa and flash?  I came up with a hypothetical method of simulating this, but it would require a recodling likely.  It involves augmenting the acceleration and ultimate top speed of ships warping out.  Currently, ships accellerate to some fixed speed depending on their flag classification (i think).  Changing these figures to something much faster could go a long way to simulating ST Warp.  As I said, it would need a special SCP build.

If you want all the ships to do that you're going to need new code but if you only want one ship to do it TP's post gives me an idea :D

All you have to do is edit the ships.tbl for that ship to give it a ridiculously high top speed and accelleration. Put the ship in the mission (and limit its speed using cap-waypoint-speed if it's moving). When you want the ship to jump out simply remove the cap by setting it to zero and then give it a waypoint way out in the distance (jump the ship out when it gets there).

Okay it's a rather hackish method of doing it and I'm not 100% certain it would work but it was worth mentioning :D

It does show however that star trek style warp outs are possible with only minor alterations to the code (or ones we are already getting).

With motion blur, a cap-waypoint speed SEXP that allows higher than table speeds, an altered warpout ani (so it does the little star thing when the ship dissappears) and a few other things rolled into one piece of code a coder could probably fudge star trek warpouts in a few minutes :D

What about something from Freelancer. Something like Trade Lanes that propel you from one location to another. That way it would save a lot of time just maxing your engine out trying to get to a location.

sorta like the hyperjump in xwa, almost every space sim has some variant...kinda miss that in FS...here you can jump out but then it's bye bye mission...jumping back in at your destination is not an option if I am correct...

I've not played freelancer but you could do something similar with a very low damage, high kinetic effect weapon :D

Holy ****, that's what I call a great idea. Sure would make for a unique and 'funny' transport method!

Please please, someone make a model for this. Basically you need a launcher and a stopper model. Both could be the same.

you know, there is already a FS-football MP mission - without kinetics, tho (but you can use them as an unfair advantage in the mission hehe) ;)

Kinetic eh? hmmm never thought of that.  Or we could create something like a jump ship. you would dock on it and then it would propel you to you location. Something you could probably tinker with in Fred. Use the Hygeia model give it a high velocity with a couple of flags I may get one working. *I always though tho a Ganamede would be an excellent model for a Jump Gate. ;)
