Gonna have to do some research on how long it really is... Supposedly, about 1.2K...

Check the book "The Fall of Reach", Im sure it has its length in there, but I cant be arsed to check.

yeah, thats the exact book i'm looking through... The Iriquois (keyes' ship when he was a commander) was exactly 1.2k, and seven meters longer then standard cruisers...

Does anyone else see the potential for a large scale mod here?

I also have a half of the TnR, strait from a50_terrain, but it needs to be completed...

I also have the crashed PoA too, but there isn't much of a difference, other then the deformed bridge and antennas... (most was done with textures)

I haven't checked Keyes (the level) for a model yet...

Except the bit at the end has you covering a distance of about 4 or 5km.

that part in itself was messed up... in the physical files, the fighterbay is DIRECTLY above the cryo bay (in a10), but moves to 4k away in d40... that means, you had to land at the escape pod bays that you go by in a10, go to the bridge, back to the cryo bay (which is near/ next to the escape pod bay you came in on), to engineering (which in theory would be at the end of the ship... meaning you've already walked the length of the ship (almost) then you have to drive 2.5K to the evac point, and an additional 2k to the fighter, which will put you directly above where you started (in theory)... that point is the single BIGGEST flaw in Halo, and it can't be explained...

yeah that part of the game confused me :-/

if you look at the windows of the bridge ( where you stand at points ) and just size up the ship from that, its no way 4-5km long. just for game purposes i guess

well...

technically the bridge in the extracted version is too big, since all the bridge-related cutscenes take place in a full model of the PoA (the one extracted)... scale doesn't have to be right on there points... I'll see if i can yank the in-game bridge and prow...

You have to remember that in the game files (A10 for example) its a matter of conveniance to the mapper where things are placed, although The Maw gives you a fairly accurate showing of the ship, A10 (the POA) does not need to be, as you dont see the fighterbay except within a cutscene (the big ass hanger with pelicans etc).

True, but it does make a bit more sense, since the books say Covie Destroyers are about 3k long, and that they dwarf UNSC crusiers... Aslo, you can get an approximate sacle, since the TnR was holding position approx 300 meters above the rings surface, which you can physically measure, and compare to the TnR there, which you can compare to the true size of the prow of the PoA as seen is a10_b (which curiously enough, intersects the hanger, which does imply that the hanger could be somewhere else) and take the a10_b measurement and compare that to a10_space and/or d40_exterior...

Though that brings up another question; if the hanger is indeed in another place, then it is safe to assume that External Access Junction 4C is topside, probably about at the midpoint.... but from there on, the nav point is indesputably strait ahead (other then the turns and such, like near the nipple grunt), but that puts the hanger on either the front, or back of the ship... infortuneately, d40_h offers nothing to help us, but d40_terrain does: The longsword is exiting on the starbord side, at a midpoint on the ship, which would imply that you were driving sideways that whole time, which is moot...

So i think we should stick with whatever the books say, and scale accordingly...

You're wondering too much: they just didn't give a damn about scale, and that's it. You could also notice that the top of the PoA is not opened, but according to that last mission, it should have a bigass trench running all along its spine. One thing: They didn't care, and that's it, they wanted a long warthog run in the end, and that's what they did. If you ask me, it was poorly done and I didn't like it, but, heh, that's just me.

well, at the top of the model, there is a texture that corresponds with the first three open to air 'rooms'... though, i agree with you in that the warthod run is out of place... if it were OUTSIDE the ship (or even alongside) racing twards E419, it'd fit better...

Also, there is a weird column runing through the center of the model:

And hidden BEHIND the fuel cells (I'd assume, the things on the side with the rounded front), there is a perfectly square hole, running through that column above, and out the other side... had to be intentional, since most moddelers wouldn't look over something that big...

you know that POA looks like it'd be just about perfict for FSO, could use a bit of very shallow greebleing on the big flat parts

*shrug* Some people think that "The Library" where you're going through room after room smashing the Flood is the most frustrating part of Halo, I think it's the last mission.

I hated the library, it never ended :blah:
but I do like the warthog run at the end, it's much more enjoyable if you just turn off your brain for a few minutes.

lol starting to sound like star trek fans, wanting exact blueprints of all these fictional ships :p lol

but yeh, a FS2 mod would be pretty kewl, I wouldnt mind helpin out wif that a bit :)

Though there does seem to be a lack of fighter / bomber craft, and know specifics in Covenant fighters / bombers etc as far as I know... but yeh bit of artistic license would be usefull there... :D

you dont need microsoft to release it, just extract it from the level and convert it into multiplay. People dont realize that they have all the tools they need to Mod halo, they just are to dumb to get off their asses and work on it. We dont need that goddam HEK....
