Howdy All:

This is a request to any experienced Modlers with a bit of free time (unless its too much of a headache).  I'm not the first person here to want an RBC cannon that self-orients in game.  New models may obviously be created with this in mind, but the existing RBC (I can never spell or pronounce the name) from FS2 can't be easily changed to accomplish this.  I made the changes I've heard of, such as altering the pof with an engine subsystem, and giving some altered rotational and movement factors.  Unfortunately, I can't get around the fact that the model was created with the beam turret facing up and the "front" on one of its sides.  This makes it impossible for the model to orient itself at its intended target with the beam facing it.  I even added an eye-point in PCS aiming up from the beam cannon, but it didn't do anything.  AFAIK, the only way to rectify this, would be to convert it back to a cob and re-orient it and all of its sub-objects 90 degrees so that the beam is on the front.  Things such as telling the rotating components to spin on a different axis can be done in PCS or Modview IIRC, but the big part is the cob stuff.  I ask that someone with skills do this, not just for me, but for all the rest of the comminuty like me who saw an RBC and said "aim dammit!!"

Thank you.

Problem is, then all existing missions with the Mjolnir in them would break, because the pof would rotate ninety degrees away from where they are supposed to be.

They only appear in King's Gambit I think.  And it shouldn't be too hard to get them properly aligned, a simple point to command will set proper alignment if the beam is moved to the front of the model.

To be honest, aiming them the way they are now is such a pain that I'm shocked :V: didn't just fix it when they were making the missions.

Make a new RBC, if you dont want it to interfere with the campaign. Take the file, copy it, name it something different, like Mjolnir_Lock so you can have it follow a target.
