I have very big problem with FS2. All worked properly and suddenly in Monday Fs2 begans to quit to desktop without any bug during almost all games! I've tried to reinstall fs2, i've tried to kill everything thats going in background, i've tried to change pilots, i've tried to reinstall video card and i've reinstalled windows. But nothing of that helps :( Somebody know how to solve that problem?

This problems are in multi and single :(

I have:

ErrorLog reports something like that:

my guess you need more memory?  I'm not sure 64 mb wow is not enough for games these days....

Have you installed any mods? If so make sure you got rid of them when you uninstalled.

Quite the reverse LLL. That's why I didn't reccomend it. Trying to run it in 64MB of RAM is a recipe for disaster.

The reason I mentioned mods is because unless you deleted your Freespace folder when you reinstalled the mods would probably sit there undeleted. When you reinstall the mods would remain and the entire cycle would have just been a big waste of time.  Since you've installed to G: rather than C: it still seems likely to me that this is a possibility.

Ohhhhh. Just noticed this :eek2:

You're running FS2 : Colossus rather than the full version?

Combined with the above this could explain your problems. Colossus is actually quite different from FS2 since it's a cut down version. A mod could work perfectly well with colossus until it bumped into a file that didn't exist but should do in the full version.

Compare this against your FS2 folder and look for any differences. Your problems could be caused by something missing or something extra so tell me if you have either.

Then rename your Data folder to Data-old or something and create a new folder called Data. Play the game and see if that helps any.

U misunderstand me. I've said in first post that i tried to reinstall fs2. and i had deleted whole directory so mods was no more. And one other thing - i'm using full polish retail to mods and colossus to playing online. I've get rid of any mod in polish fs2 and had this same problem.

Hmmmm. That is odd then. Especially since you say you're getting it with Colossus and FS2 retail.

Since you say that you've reinstalled Windows (And I admire your commitment to FS2 if you've done that just to solve this problem :D ) then it's obviously not a problem with your windows install corrupting itself.

Is it possible that you've installed a driver that's causing the problem (and reinstalled it when you put windows back on your system)?

Funniest thing is that i've dont reinstalled anythin' and suddenly bug appears.

I was thinkin' that's fault of 1 year without reinstall. I;ve tried before to change video driver but this does nothing

Maybe its some conflict with my ISA audio card? (Ess audiodrive 1869)

A reinstall every year?  I'm impressed.  I will ask, do you stay updated with all of the latest patches?  I've seen problems develop from nothing more than Windows Update in the past.  I'd suggest checking compatability mode if you're using XP, and in general running the system setup in the launcher again.

That is indeed wierd if it happens out of the blue like that. Check all your windows updates and patches and DirectX and graphics card drivers while you're at it, but I suspect there's something weird going on there if it happens even after a fresh re-install. Welcome to HLP, btw. :)

if this started all of a sudden, then my guess would be one of the following, you installed something that mucked up DirectX related stuf, which you can check with DxDiag, or you inadvertently changed some video related setting, or your RAM is failing or you've run out of diskswap space...since you're running 98SE, autoexec.bat and config.sys settings still apply, check that they haven't been changed...if they are there is usually a backup present of each.

  • Avoid the beam and you wont get hit
Simplest possible solution: Take you rather old computer and sell it to a desperate sailor as a boat anchor, then take a few hundered dollars and get a pc that can actually work on todays programs. PCs are cheaper than they've ever been and definitely better than what you're running.

Not everyone has the money for that though and there is no good reason why his set up shouldn't run FS2 retail.

What version are your graphics drivers?  If they're recent, then that might be your problem: on some W98SE systems the latest nVidia drivers are system killers.

When I updated my W98SE system to Detonator 53.(something) things started to get funny - Red Faction, FS2 and Silent Hill 2 had CTD's visual bugs, etc.  Two days later, Windows expired.

The only solutions I found is go back to earlier drivers or get a newer OS.

Well, i've knowed that newest detonators maybe does something with Geforce Fx'es and GF4 etc. but not with ol' Riva, so i dont use newest ver, i'm using from looong time kinda old Detonators - ver. 4.13.01.2832. As for DirectX issues - i was suspecting that i've installed something bad, and i repeat myself: i've formatted all HD and reinstalled windows, and now i have minimal number of things, only most important stuff, that was working with fs2 cool.

@DeepSpace9er  ---> that PC served me well for 6 years. I will buy new one in nearest month, but u know, FS2 is very hard narcotic - u just can't get enough of, so u dont wanna wait :D
