In that not only does he appear to have some kind of inverse goatee, but actually looks quite old. Come to think of it, he says in the titles 'They call us the lost generation'. If that's the case, he fought in the great war 30 years before FS2, which makes him around 50 at least

it does look like he has a beard in that pic, but it's so subtle it might just be the lighting.

In the last cutscene he does say he fought against the GTI, but I don't think that Bosch was the guy in the titles-the guy there had nothing but praise for the GTVA.

I had a hunch  maybe that in Silent Threat you played as Bosch.

Bosch fought in the Hades rebellion - thats where he collected his knowledge about the shivans. He is/was the only one who knew about all the secret research that had been done with shivans, and that got lost with the Hades rebellion.
