Engine exaust too bright
I think these are the engine exausts not sure, anyway look at these two pics.
First pic is when i'm Stock FS2 (SCP not installed):

Second is with SCP installed:

both are on the same mission both are of the same two ships.
as you can see with SCP installed that engine exaust is just too bright and too big, I dunno if it's supposed to be like this, but I don't like it all that much, looks outta place.
anyway can I get it back to how it is in Stock FS2?
thanks all

You must delete all references to thruster in the effects folder, or if you have the vp installed, you must extract all of the files, but the thruster ones, and then delete the VP... Else you'll have te cooler looiking plumes which you don't like...

Mine does the same thing- bloody annoying when I'm trying to shove some fries up a Medusa's tailpipe and cant see the bomber because of all the flaring.

However, I play with the -nohtl flag on 640x32bit resolution (my system cant go higher with HTL off), because with HTL on the nebula whites out my screen and I can't play at all.  With HTL off the engine flares are much smaller and actually have a highly appealing fade/transparent effect that looks really cool.

as I've said in the Freespace 1 converstion forum,
I do like SCP, I think it's great, but the only dislike is those large engine plumes and flame trails, I can't seem to find the option to turn them off, nor have I been able to get rid of them through deleting the effects folder, they seem to remain there no matter what I do.
Some ppl have asked why I do not like this cool effect, well here's my reasons.
I'd rather be able to see the ship instead of bright large lights. Also I lag when behind ships with these plumes causing me to not be able to aim that well.

Have you tried moving the mv_effects VP to a different directory?
