Geforce 4 Ti4600 = super graphics and super problems.
Hey all. I just got my new Gf4 Ti4500, installed it, got it working, but now I have no sound. It's an onboard sound card, and was working before I plugged in the new card, and now it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Are there any known issues with that card type/brand that relate to having no sound?
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

It's on-board. Actually, I just noticed. At first, I was using a front I/O port. But I moved the whole assembaly (sp?) into a different case, so I lost that I/O port.  But, when I took it out, and plugged it into the mobo (it's hanging out of my case by it's cord right now), and plugged my sound into THAT, my sound works.

Last time I had this problem, my Windows had decided it was perfectly ok for my Graphics and Sound card to share an IRQ. It's a irritating job, if you don't already know it, but worth a check ;)

Click on Start ---> Settings ----> Control Panel ----> System ---> Device Manager.

Now right click on your sound card and select Properties

Now, from the far right tab (Resources) check your IRQ number.
Compare that with the IRQ of your graphics card, if they are the same, then one of them needs changing. if they are not, then it's not that ;)

Ah well, took me too long to type it ;)

Nope. The Geforce has an IRQ of 16, the sound an IRQ of 17.

LOL, I think I know what's wrong here. Does the header the I/O port plugs into look a little like this?

If it does, try jumpering in like in (2) ;)

Ask at a PC store, they probably pull hundreds of them of motherboards. Worst case, you'll be up for the couple of dollars it'll cost to by a bag of 100 or so from a place like Radio Shack.

Can run LOMAC with most of the details on :D (Choppy for the first couple seconds as it gets everything into RAM, but after that it runs fine).

And thanks Admiral, but I'll probably just scrounge a couple off some old hard drives.
