It's a pity the edges are clipped really, if it had been a complete image you could almost use it ingame

Well, it might have had an alpha channel. Photoshop makes transparent backgrounds white when you change the format to non-alpha compatible.

You got a drawing board or something? I have no idea what technique you used... but it's great

I got tired of using tutorials that didn't work. So I tried it on my own, and found out the way on my own

It's simple, takes like 2 buttons. Open the image, go to image-->adjustments-->replace color. Click on a white part of the image in the selection mode. I maxed out the fuzziness so it doesn't look too brutal. In transform, simply drag the Lightness bar all the way to the left. Wa-la.

A couple of idea's:
Add something like a noise layer, to make the whole thing about more gradient/cloudy. This just looks too opaque, cartoony, or like it's been painted using oil-based paint.
Use a lower compression rate when posting, I'm seeing artifacts.
