And yes, the name means that it's a fighter capable of both space and atmospheric flight (like the Thunderbolt on B5)...

Yah, Tornado is cool...not as cool as the X-35 JSF, but hey, what can you do?  

   

This is the first plane that I've ever liked better than the F-16...it better win, because the X-32 one is just plain ugly.

Hehe...yah, it is. The F-22 is bigger, has much longer wings(lengthwise), has TWO engine exhausts, and a very different tail structure. The resemblance is there, though.

The Raptor II was used during the Eurasian war of 2081-2082, the Raptor III was a spacefighter used from 2230-2260.  With the formation of the GTVA and the adoption of the mythological naming system, the Raptor name was relegated back to it's roots as a atmospheric fightercraft.
