All we have is our memories. You think there's going to be a new System Shock, a new Fallout, a new Baldur's Gate? Ha! Not likely, and if there is, they will be XBox exclusive and will be dumbed for a 10 year old. And lets not forget the pop-culture references. Or street racing. Or dating. Or just about anything the most powerful consumer force in North America - 12 to 17 years olds - wants, which is usually bull****.

i think ID software and Valve might have something to say about that.

but yeah.. but the trend won't bend towards that forever, hell.. i've read that review to that "singles" game... it got abysmal ratings..

so when most developers see that people aren't liking those 'sort' of games, they'll hopefully change tactics.. doubtful i know..

and EA?.. they're more evil than microsoft.
as for britney, wait a couple of years, she'll go the way most ****e singers go... into the ether where she'll just be an awful memory.

You realize every single Bioware game contains references to pop culture, right? Baldur's Gate, for instance, referenced the show "Newhart" with a few random NPCs. One of the books in Neverwinter Nights referenced the excellent French comic book series, Asterix the Gaul.

I have no personal quarrel with them. What I hate is the way that millions of people think of them as the be-all and end-all of rock, who put a message across in their music, and worship them as gods, when there are patently so many much, much better bands about (even in America!). It's the fault of the music industry, and the gullible retards who buy their singles because they're told it's "cool".

I don't like their music much, 'cos it's rather commercial and generic. They have some talent (the singer has a decent voice, and I'm sure the guitarists have more ability than they show at the moment), so there's no reason why they couldn't record some bloody good songs, but they have to stop whoring themselves to their label first. Same goes for Evanescence - great singer, good potential for great music, but they have to do better than drop-D powerchords generic songs.

Linkin Park are a good tight band, but yes, I think too many people try to put a single band into a 'definitive' role for a kind of Music. Anyone who listened to Nirvana or Mother Love Bone will know that the 'Seattle Grunge Scene' actually went all the way from Ballads to Sub-Thrash' type music.
