6 Days on the Sidelines
Pure Stalemate
Story: GTVA Forces reach a surprising stalemate with a Shivan team of ships. They are within a large boundary of a gas nebula, stranded from contact. The last thing they have seen are the enemy Shivan ships advancing on their position. The Shivan ships, however, seem to be pulling up the same tactics as one would introduce in such a scenario. They seem to be in the same predicament: stranded from contact and no reinforcements.
The Pilot: You belong to a recon team sent out to recover contact with any ships left behind from the larger fleet. You’re squadron is comprised of a set of 6 Myrmidons and 4 Pegasus stealth fighters. You have one Fenris to accompany you.
Your team uncovers the unfortunate Hecate and its escort Leviathan, and alongside 2 cargo ships supplied with armaments and much needed supplies. The Hecate had not been re-supplied before reaching the staging ground it is at, and only has enough fuel for a few long-distance runs, as well as a dwindling fighter and bomber supply. Only two wings of Herc II’s and three wings of Ursa bombers load its bays. The weapons also feature a limited supply.
However, the surrounding area features some surprising elements. There seem to be many things floating around in the nebula’s eye. A derelict Vasudan corvette hangs off in the distance, near what appears to be a small gas planet.
The second pile of wreckage appears to be a nearby satellite station, extremely damaged but it can be repaired.
The last is a large dump of cargo that was let loose from three supply ships that were apparently abandoned.
Your assessable location: in the center of what appears to be a large nebula. It is hollow inside, meaning all you see around you is the nebula itself, with the insides containing only a green star, the small gas planet, and an uninhabited planet off in the distance. The Shivan capital ship, a good distance from the Hecate and its wings, is comprised of a Ravana-class destroyer, and what appears to be a nearly infinite supply of fighters.
The Plan designed for this small campaign: Each mission will have at least 2 side-missions after you finish it. Every loss will count for the next mission. If one of your fighter squadrons goes down, as well a freighter with a cargo container filled with weapons, the next mission will feature you without that squad, and the weapon selection will be downgraded significantly.
Also, during one mission you will be forced to choose between which one of those 3 derelict treasures you wish to take. Each one features an ending, and its up to you to choose how to finish it.
So, in a sense, it’s a “do-what-you-want” campaign that, by Goobers recommendation, I make. It will take SOME time, but I am going to have to use the regular FRED2, because frankly the CVS isn’t working for me.
Remember, your supplies are limited. You will be on the same battleground on each mission, with the losses from the last afflicting those for the present. Be careful, and don’t get too overconfident.
