I haven't seen any threads complaining about this, so here goes. FS2 seems to want to imitate capital ships when they go down. Whenever they give off their large explosion, FS2 crashes right to the desktop. I though it might be my graphics card complaining about the high res stuff, so I removed the VPs. When it still did this, I extracted the retail explosion stuff into the data folder. I tried it at a lower res, I removed everything from the data folders, I've unchecked every flag, but it still crashes. So I tried other builds, I found the same problem (except for Bobbau's builds, which CTD right away, but that's my stupid video card). But the problem went away when I tried some of the earlier builds. The last build that worked was fs2_open_C06252004.exe. Anything after that doesn't work. I've also noticed that the builds that do work also render the jump node without needing the new model.

System Specs are:
AMD 1.3GHz
256 MB Ram (64 MB shared with my video "card")
SiS 650/740 Onboard (Yes, it sucks, but it plays FS2_Open well enough)

How can you play FSO with an onboard SiS650?

Try http://icculus.org/~taylor/fso/testing/20040717-win32.zip in D3D and OpenGL.  I don't know if it will help but it's newest CVS with a bunch of fixes from this morning and will let us know where we stand.  Also try a new pilot just to see if there is some corruption in there (probably not but worth a shot).

Nope, CTD's right off the bat like Bobbau's builds... If worse comes to worse I think what I'll do for now is play with the older build  until I get a new video card, which I hope will be really soon...
