The first Star Wars movie ever (A New Hope) was about the only one I really liked. I like realism - and not that crap you see later that combines the terrible inbalance of mysticism and technology.
And another thing - I prefer science fiction films to somewhat be true to its physics - or have its own physics derivative.
First of all the thing about "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." ticked me off immediately, even though it was in the first film and became the official banner of Star Wars.
Again, the most annoying thing with Star Wars is its misuse of physics. In the first film, magnetic fields were constantly misused - as was the case in other films. In the next film, was good - but not AS good as the first. The asteroid belt that Solo was in actually should be the planetary ring, and not to mention the asteroid worm monster in zero gravity (is it Shivan?).
It was then when Lucas changed his target audience from science nerds to just kids. The Ewok - well, I never liked that scene. They seemed cheesy. Then came the Phantom Menance, which was nothing but a fancy show of 3DS MAX (the ideal movie-editing tool used in the industry) that seemed to ONLY targeted kids.
Certainly politics was added to the 21th Century films, but come on - they weren't politics. It was really sour - what Lucas did to implement econo-poli-sci into the film. And plus - it was made for kids.
The Clone Wars film was, I think, a big failure on Lucas' part to impress the sci-fi community. Basically the Phantom Menance gave me a dislike for the movies, but this film really killed it for me. It was good to see less mysticism and more science, but the robot who had to tweak his voice protocol in order to speak correctly was way too much - get Microsoft SAM SDK or something! But that rag on that banker (ohh - I forgot his name in real life) by the alien (his speech and visage) was priceless!

And finally, the arena scene with the beasts was too divergent - what is it? Sparticus?
General Grevious? It's a name that only kids could understand! Ohh - - four light sabers, daddy! Kool!
So here the bottom line - Lucas spoiled it for me. And now, I'm going to dig up my Star Trek movies and TV recordings - and watch them!
