[color=66ff00]Meh, I dare anyone to tell me that any saber fight from the prequels irrespective of how well choreographed they were has anywhere near the same urgency or power as Luke vs. Vader in either ESB or especially ROTJ.

The prequels depicted people dancing around with fun glowy swords, the originals depicted two people literally fighting for their lives with weapons of mass destruction.

Uh, this is a few points late, but I guess I should point out that in bladed-weapon combat you're supposed to be spending most of your attention on where the other guy's poky stick is going. About 90% of any successful lethal combat is dodging the other guy's shots-  after all, it's not like you should need more than the other 10% to resolve the situation. ;)

You're also not supposed to take big baseball-bat swings unless you're handling something with an effective range that's longer than you are tall. But that did look cooler, so that gets a pass.

Indeed. If you're being attacked by some dude with a laserswordofdoom, you're not going to be worrying about killing him so much as not getting hit by the laserswordofdoom. That's why they move to block rather than take a risk to try to hit him from some weird angle and get sliced into pieces.

Go get a friend and two sticks and pretend you're Star Wars geeks and try it if you want to understand.

KT: I thought the complaint was that they were mostly trying to hit each others' blades...?

Right. It looks like they are, but I don't think they're aiming for the blades as much as they're just blocking attacks from each other back and forth so it looks like they are.

Yeah. Could do without all the backflipping, but it looked more or less fine to me.

On a side note, it's hinted that a book character will make an appearance in Ep3. And it's not Thrawn, worst luck :(

Mara Jade would be too young, I would have thought, though she was the 'Emperors hand'..... and female Jedi are specifically mentioned in this one. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

MJ would kick ass....  my bet is on her, because she is most likely to be the best recognized by Lucas in the post Star Wars era.

This is true, I think Mace is going to go down fighting the grievously badly named one. And I have a sneaky suspicion theres going to be a lightsaber duel between Yoda and Sideous, which will no doubt be cut short, since they both survive.

Reading up on this film, it does actually look like someones been gently thumbscrewing George into doing something a bit more along the pace of the original movies.... I'll wait and see though.

Some questions will need answering:

Will we find out how the Rebel Alliance is formed?
who is Luke's mother?
when do Tie Fighters come in?
will there be prototypes of the more "modern" spacecraft? (early versions of the X-wing? Z-95?)

And if anyone has player the game "Rebel Assault II"(its old) remember ther "Phantom Fighters", a tri-winged Tie Fighter with cloaking device, wouldn't those be cool? or would that be in another trilogy?
Derek Smart is his own oxymoron.

Luke and Leia are the twin children of Anakin and Padme, by the way :)

As for the others, nope, doubt you'll see any sign of them, possibly the very start of the Rebel Alliance.

No doubt Lucas will form them based on disputes over the Emperor's new Star Destroyer Tax increases...

I wonder if that's a reference to the Z-95...

I still get a kick out of you guys going off on the man for making the prequels the way he feels they should be told. I mean Christ if the guy literally gave us a 2 hour movie of Anakin whining to Padme' that he really meant to pull out but they'd be able to handle raising kids, and nothing else ,.......it's his movie. I've seen each one on opening day and personally I've enjoyed all five thus far and will doubtfully enjoy the final one just as much.

So let's save the ranting for after it's out ;)

BTW Grievous was debuted in the Clone Wars toon short final, and he's not a robot,...just a cyborg that's more bot (Insider had an issue about him a few months ago,..really cool reading thou.) His point is pretty obvious if one thinks about it,....how the hell do you kill off several thousand Jedi really fast? Hence the Saber in each hand and a pair for the feet moves. Sides,...as names go take a look at past ones:

Vader: Yes cool
Maul: What else would we name a Sith who's sole purpose is to 'maul' the Jedi?
Tyranus: Hmm not too shabby
etc etc

Personally I think the film name is either a working title,..or just something to keep the masses attention for a bit,..wouldn't shock me at all to find out it's false,...I mean ROTJ was originally Revenge of the Jedi,.. a bit ironic ain't it?

Ooohhh teh spoilage. :(

I was going to post that if Grievous were something like Lord Nyax, he could be cool. (Six lightsaber blades, cybernetically enhanced to augment physical, mental, and Force strength, with no goal except to find and take sources of Force power, and fully capable of ripping through a Yuuzhan Vong battalion and destroying Vong cruisers.)

But it sounds like he could be :D Though the next question'll be, why don't the Jedi just use their Force powers to flick his off switch. :p
