The Faustus has a fighterbay?  Seriously though, the second one is far better.  But the rotating bits are too large and rotating the wrong way.  May I suggest counter rotating panels in the style of the Faustus, IE one rotates clockwise, the other counter clockwise.

The thing that really made the Faustus though was the custom texture work and you might consider something similar here.

-> Trivial: Most likely the ship will travel accompanied by a cruiser or corvette.

-> Liberator: They will already rotate in opposite dirrection, this is simply where they start for now. I will redirrect the rotation position.

The strange array in front is temp, it will be made hollow, with a sofisticated sort of sensor array in it which might function as a sensor array (hench that the ship is a longprobe that can scan deep into nebula's to find valuable resources/gasses/ship positions).

Whoa, dude! Very nice design, and convincingly textured. Well done. ;)

2798, so lets say 2800, and 3000 when turrets are on.

You should consider using a fairly plain gray map for the pipes, and using a shinemap to make them look shiny / reflective.  Might look neat :)

I remember Goober saying this was taken out because it screwed up the balance in original FS2 missions.

Was it taken out?

BTW, great model. But wasnt the Einstein destroyed in Silent Threat?

Yes, doing black ops for the rogue GTI.  It was supposed to be destroyed in the Shivan ambush on Ross 128, but showed up in ST just in time to get blown to bits.  Doesn't seem very likely that another craft would bare its name, much less an entire class.

As for the line of fire thing, I understand why that was taken out.  But could we get a setting on the FOV instead that specifies horizontal and vertical fields of fire seperately?  Wouldn't cover everything, but it'd be a lot better than the current system.

Why not?

Ship names are always being reused. Look at how many Enterprises there have been, for instance. And I don't mean NCC-1701, either.

That is Star Trek, not Freespace 2. I doubt anyone would allow me to name a destroyer the "Aquitane" if I made campaign 1000 years into the future. :p

Why not? I would have no problem with it.

I already announced my retirement twice, yet here I am. If I bring up that topic again, don't believe a word.

I know some people would.... :doubt:

It happens in real life, eejit. Present day carrier called Enterprise, there was one in WWII called Enterprise, and so on back to the original HMS Enterprize.

GTSC Fermi.
Just as close to Einsten as you can get.
(Historical note: Enrico Fermi was one of the main scientists of the A-Bomb team, along with Einsten and a few others).
