Thinking of buying Once
I've just about out-listened Century Child (Nightwish if you haven't caught on) and I'm thinking of getting Once off of Amazon. I was wondering if any of you have heard  it, and if it's any good (something like Century Child but maybe more "evolved").

Thinking of buying Once
Nightwish = Iron Maiden with a female bruce dickinson.

i've heard real good things about them.  I want to pick up their CDs, but its kinda low on my "need to get ASAP list" which would include the Di'Anno Maiden albums, the rest of the Megadeth remasters (only have CTE), pantera, in flames, shadows fall, south of heaven, reign in blood, opeth, dream theatre, motorhead, judas priest, etc.

Reign in Blood is good, I recommend it (for Angel of Death). Opeth, My Arms Your Hearse is good just because it has Demon of the Fall on it...(actually, any Opeth album will do you good).

For me Once is on my "need to get ASAP list" unless somebody has a damn good reason for telling me it sucks.

Thinking of buying Once
I've 'sampled' the album, and I think it's a good buy.  It seems to me that Once is a much more mature album in general,  and it's hard to find anything like it.  The orchestra makes for a truely powerful listening experience.

I say go for it, there's no reason not to.

nightwish is ok, kinda different. they are from finland but as we all know the best metal bands are from norway. i invested 15 bucks on a copy of dimmu borgir's death cult armagedon, ive been listening to it for almost a year and im still not bored. bast damn cd in existance imho.

It's great. Get it at the first opportunity. It's like nothing else you're likely to have heard, unless you're a fan of bands like Therion (also rather good :D):yes:

i wouldn't call slayer death metal as much as i'd call judas priest thrash.

they influenced both, but weren't.

but if you consider slayer death metal, then america has the ultimate death metal band :)

i still consider slayer thrash metal, sometimes i hear it called speed metal. for it to be death metal they would need to sound more like satan in the vocals department. slayer rocks anyway!
