Ok, so since everyone else is showing off thier new science/awacs ship, here's my entry.  The GTSC or GTA (depending on what it's used for, of course) Mnemosyne.


I'll get some better shots up once it's textured (and I'm not fully decided on the front end either) but the two rings with three panels on them will counter rotate.  It's checking in right now at around 1200 polys, probably about 2k tris.  C&C welcome, so long as it's clean.  Inspiration credit to GE, the Warzone campaign, and :V: of course, but the model is just something I threw together tonight.

How big is it compared to the regular AWACS?

You know, that's a good question.  I haven't decided yet.  That superstructure barely visable on the underside (on top of the long pylons) is supposed to be navigational control; assume that's a large deck and go from there. Another reference is that the domes on the rings are supposed to be equivalent to the AWACS domes (one of the three) give or take.  It shouldn't be grossly bigger, though it may come out to be twice as long.

Then again, by the sheer number of panels I've put on this ship, it's more of a specialized large awacs than your average combat sensor ship.  Only would see deployment with a capital ship unless something desperate came up.

Since everybody is showing their AWACS, i went and did one too!;7

It´s supposed to be a fast, agile, fighter and bomber wing AWACS support.  It´s about the size of a gunship. Still deciding wether to place the two frontal guns or not. It has to be well armed, to stand its ground against enemy fighters, if attacked.
Basic texture, just for ambience. The blades counter-rotate, of course.






I think i will call it "GTSC-SPECTRE", or something.

That's pretty decent for what (I assume) are tiled textures - still, such a small AWACS tends to go against FS Canon for these ships...

Depends. If the AWACs radius for that ship is greatly reduced you could get away with it. (Especially if FS2 era AWACs appears with a much bigger radius at some point).

The texture i just slapped it on in TS, just to give it some "essence". Needs a real paint job, but i´m not the man to do it.
You would use it only for small operations, like depot bombing runs, and small scale engagements. The speed and manouverability of the ship would help it stay well clear of any heavy hitter.
It could also be used as a jamming ship.

Looks like it might pre-date FS2.  Like they decided to create an AWACS ship using Faustus-oriented technology, since FS2 era uses the dome-style AWACS.  While its got sensor pannels like the Faustus, it definitely looks more geared towards a combat environment, and not for scientific research.
