I've just downloaded the SCP, and I think it is excellent. It's amazing what a group of dedicated people can do when given the source code. Anyway, I'm having a small problem with the radar. I'm quite certain it isn't a bug because it worked until I saw the 'features' option in the launcher. I used easy set-up and selected 'all features on', and that's when the radar stopped working. The rest of the hud became transparent as well, but not the writing. However, the dots on the radar aren't appearing. Do any of you know what the problem is?

You should realy take a look through the command line list in the launcher.  There's one that restricts radar range, that may be the cause of your radar problem.

And does 'no beam pierce' mean the the beam weapons of cap ships won't go all the way through your ship, or does it mean something else.?

No beam peirce is when AA beams hit your sheilds first and deplete them, and leave you almost defensles against anything else.   Its not the way it was in standard freespace, when beams just when right through your sheilds and raped the hull. That way you could fight off fighters around you because yhou still had sheilds.
