Uh....... (really wierd problem_
Ok, now that I have been home, I decided to put the T-20040802 on my desktop (it had previously been working just fine on my laptop). On D3D it CTD's 2 or 3 seconds after the "Freespace SCP" loading screen comes up. On OGL, it works, but I get something that looks like this:

What's going on?

"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Most likely the crash from playing movies.  It should be fixed in the 20040822 build if you want to try that one.  Otherwise just use the -dnoshowvid command line option.

I assume that's where a planet is supposed to be.  If it's a TGA planet you need to make sure and use -jpgtga.  If it's DDS then it may be a bug in the code and if that's the case then it should be fixed in the 20040822 build.

There was no planet. It's not the only place it will show. Sometimes when a beam is power up, or whenever there is an explosion. It has nothing to do with those options (which are checked, btw).

You were right about the D3D problem, but now the image looks even worse (this picture was in D3D mode):

Now we not only have appearent graphics corruption, but also the ship is invisible.

Radeon 9100. Has served me faithfully for a year and a half. Actually, this is the only game it is giving me trouble with.

Looks kinda like what was happening to me with a previous build.  But, this one's clean for me.  Radeon Mobilty(7000) here, driver version 6.14.10.6343.  It's a Gateway specific driver as ATI says not to use the Cats with Mobility products.
So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

There are only 10 types of people in the world , those that understand binary and those that don't.

Just started happerning. I dug up my old 3.5.5 build and it worked just fine.

Yes, the driver is installed and Directx 9 is installed. DX9 has been installed on that system for a while.

So does anyone have any other ideas what is going on?
