Not about the FA Academy ones, those are going fine.

Instead, I'm here to whine about a problem I have with campaigns that include ANY form of mod, reskins or new ships/weapons/whatevers.

Either I'm very stupid, or most campaigns package all that together in VP files along with the rest of the stuff for the campaign.

However, without changes to the actual table files themselves, FS2 and FS2_Open refuse to use the stuff packed in the VPs. I've repeatedly checked the .tbl files, removed every mod there was and things that looked vaguely like mods, and even done a seperate, completely clean install of FS2 on my computer. Nothing has worked.

I give up. What do I have to do that I'm not?

Hmmmmm. One problem that you could be having with VP files is to do with the fact that the game checks through them in an alphabetical order.

Tables in any vp file in the main folder which comes after root_fs2.vp (or mv_effects_c.vp if you're using the media VPs) will simply not be used because the game will spot those first and use them instead.

The solution when using FS2 Retail is simply to make sure the VP has a name beginning with the letter A or something so that it is found before the standard tables.

If you're using FS2_Open the solution is to make a folder for the mod (no spaces, no hyphens in the name), stick the VP inside it and then use the select mod button on the launcher to pick the folder you just created.
