Playing Inferno R1 again.  I'd forgotten what a pain in the ass those Claymore fighters really are :).

It was stated that Inferno will more than likely not work with SCP.  Totally understandable.

i was able to launch the main INF campaign from the 3.6 executable, with the obvious "wierd things" happening, like every ship turning into a Ulysses and all weapons vanishing.  Going to the Weapons Loadout screen crashed the game.  Not a big deal at all, much as I'd love to see INF take advantage of the goodies in SCP.

I must have some vp's or table files mixed.  Might try a clean install of FS, then the most basic SCP files, then sticking Inferno in there to see what happens.

Stoked to see the next one.

Unusual... R1 should work with the SCP's replacement FS2 exes theoretically

EDIT: Actually this is untrue for one mission. If it's mission 8 (the one where you have to escort the freighters) then it's because the HTL limitations of the regular SCP builds have been exceeded by one of our ships. Use the retail build for this one

Yeah, it works for me using SCP. Well...at least until the mission with the Clarius. Plus there's a patch coming out, so it should implement SCP sometime soon...

Like i mentioned earlier up, I haven't tested it with just the very basic scp executable.  I figured I'd start from there, then start throwing in the goodie packages to see what happens.  I figure as long as I don't install anything that puts stuff in the data folders it 'might' work.

Still looks amazing even without SCP.  The upgrades in Inferno are simply astounding.

Nope.  I read about doing that after I'd already uninstalled things.

What I did to get it working (which I needed to do anyway) was backup all my SCP/Campaign/Pilot files and did a full clean reinstall of FS2.  My version is the 20th Anniversary Interplay Edition so it's fully patched (copy #23 of 2000, since I feel like bragging).

After that I just stuck the inferno .vp in, pasted back in my pilot file, and everything worked fine as I expected it would.  I'll do more screwing around with dropping in the SCP files when I get home from the office.

If you're using SCP, use -mod.  It'll save you lots of maintenence.  Just place the inferno .vps into a folder in FS2 main called 'inferno' and run the game with the command line -mod inferno.

Hey,

Just ran inferno no problem with the SCP executable.  Of course, I haven't plugged in all the goodies, but did turn a number of features on.  The shines on ships look great :).

Thanks for the tip on the -mod switch, StratComm.  I'll try that too.
