Im looking for ships from this serial.
Anyone had ever create one for freespace ??

DG tried it once but there was a whole sorry arguement of using models from another mod without permission due to a misunderstanding and the whole thing failed miserably.

However you're a modeller and DG is probably still willing to FRED a SAAB Mod. Maybe you guys should chat.

I did some backtracking and I found where the models came from!

  ONE, they did NOT come from a mod , they were posted in native 3ds format...


   TWO the author was BORG124 and this was intended for an ARMADA  I or II mod NOT Homeworld (so for them to come here and claim it was ripped from their mod is full of ****E it seems...

   THREE, DG was so disgusted with the situation he basicly walked away from it and nowwith his RL stuff I doubt he would want to return to SAAB. (I've tried with no success to get a hold of him to get the latest updates to the original files.)

FOUR I was planning on reviving this later on cause I tried to get a hold of BORG124 about three times now over the last year with no success. (maybe that email is invalid now?)

I had a partly textured Hammerhead model somewhere (done all the hull details except for an underside engine bit I never got a good reference for, and the cockpit).  Think it was in modeldump3.

Can say it was a ****-load better (in both maps and detail-vs-polys) than the 40,000 poly model I downloaded as a reference.

Nope.  Reci died because, basically, I couldn't be arsed with the hassle when I was studying for exams.

Hmmm. Exactly what is involved in converting modelled, textured 3dses into single lod pofs? Apart from turreting of the larger ships, presumably not an awful lot right? Subsystems, Gunpoints, thrusers... dock points... am I missing anything? Weapons are possibly already done (from the old project), and even if they aren't, they're not that hard to do. Given a storyline by DG, I'd gladly FRED up a mission or two if it meant irritating a bucnch of dickheads.

I remember being irritated at the attitude these guys showed DG too. If I can clear my plate a little in the next month I'd be willing to help too.

We really need to check that the modeller isn't actually someone in their team using an alt-nick though. Pity we can't get hold of him.

If this was from an Armada mod rather than Homeworld maybe someone in that community knows something.

I won't pretend I know what S:AAB is, exactly, however reading these posts, I think I have a rough idea of what happened. My current opinion of the situation overall is:

Basically DG apologised all over the place for the mix up and begged to be allowed to continue using the mods and they basically said no.

While I didn't like that attitude (When I release a campaign if someone wants to port my mods to another engine I'd be more than happy to see that happen as long as I got credit) I respected it since I figured it was their model to do with as they please.

If that turns out to be incorrect then I'm pissed off cause firstly they had no right to deny DG in the first place but cause secondly I was really looking forwards to the S:AAB conversion.

DG didn't mention it as he just popped his scrrewy head in here a few posts ago! But if I rememebr correctly the conversions, for the most part, were FINISHED! Just the Chig mother ship and one of the carriers were being biatches...

  If this were to take off again I would be uber thrilled, plus after so much time trying to contact do you guys think it would be cool to go ahead anyway as long as he is credited  (as he was going to be all along!)...

  As for that particular HW team, in my eyes they have lost all credability. If I bothered to track down thier posts here and then go to the HW boards and find them to ask "is one of your members Borg124 that made SAAB models?" and they said yes, I would think most likely they would be lying just to deny us their use because of their past behavior, Plus their claim was that these were made FOR HW that means PEO files NOT generic 3ds files!
