today I had an idea for a shivan fighter, thus far I've gotten the geometry nearly done. I applied a procedural shader to most of it, so don't complain about textures., the idea behind this is a campane I would like to one day do, this would be one of the weaker shivan craft you would face once they decide that you could be a problem.

here is a version that's been ubber subdivided for the hell of it

Don't really know, seems more vasudan than shivan... It's also a bit blocky for both species...

It looks kind of wierd, but badass though. I don't exactly know what it is, or which way is up, but man, does it look evil. And powerful.

Though the textures you used for the black bits make it look vaguely Shadow-like. Maybe something a bit more akin to the normal Shivan fighter textures.

So, good work, but maybe a few more shots from different angles, to get a better sense of the shape? Nice to see you're back doiing modeling.

yeah, that shot realy isn't very good for describeing the shape of it.

origonaly it was going to be on it's side compared to what it is now, but I decided it would look too much like the Nephelim, though I did change it a lot after I made that determination, so it's a lot harder to see the similarity now (the lower engine section was down and too the front more) it's a bit too late to change it now though, becase the upper engines would be imposable to desymetify

explain procedural shaders, is this a new feature or some new feature i might have missed? i like the geometry but the texture seems abit too redundant throughout the model. try some lighter gray in some areas.

procedurals are things you find in 3D rendering programs, there textures that the program makes on the fly, and the good ones allow you to get away without texture mapping at all, it has nothing to do with what it's going to look like in the end, I just wanted to give a better impression than the standard white would have given.
the FS1 Shivans had lighter colors than the FS2 ones, I am a fan of the FS1 Shivans BTW (if you can't tell by the engines)

Give it some anhedral stub wings and it'll make a cool heavy fighter.  I'd also suggest not having the forward bulbous section curving out forward as you have.  It would start out vertical and weep back as it descends.  Then enlarge the "tooth" or spike on its bottom and sweep it back a bit.  Those are my suggestions.

Looks like a Shivan armed transport of some sort. Very nice :)

Actually that kind of swirly red area on the bottom/side makes me think : something to do with comm-nodes for some reason.

the  "swerly red area" will probly be nearly invisable in the final, there sort of a crisal like structure, there will be some glowing from it, but you won't see much of it exept for some reflection, it's sort of a progression of a line of thinking were I think that the Shivan hulls are probly nano-engeneered carbon crystals, these are just extreemly dence areas, they also have to do with some new technology that the Shivans demonstrate, basicly after things like this start showing up everything will have Lucifer sheilds, you have to hit them hard and directly a glanceing blow will just bounce right off (I it call adaptive armor, but the name doesn't realy mean anything, it's basicly a second shield that follows the hull)
