Or is everyone still getting the bug where the glowmapped faces don't disappear after the ship goes into subspace? I figure it's a pretty obvious bug, so it's probably more likely to be just me, which I can live with.

It sounds like a clipping plane issue.  I had similar problems with my old GeForce2 MX.  If your card is approximately that old, that's probably what's wrong.
