I accidently changed my Windows XP home account to a limited account. Anyone here now how I can get it back to a Computer Administrator?

  • huh?.. Who?.. hey you kids, git off me lawn!
check your user accounts screen (in your control panel), if there is an admin account present, log in as that one, and change it, by default, there should already be an admin account there.

although, i have to wonder how, exactly does one "accidentally" set the account onto limited without full knowledge of their actions. :p

:wtf:

okay, you /should/ have your main admin account there, as it cannot be set to limited at all.. (i should know, i tried)
just log in to the admin account, and set the other account's privelages to admin as well... simple.

XP home.  you have tried restarting, right?

Edit: i gather from the situation that you have more than one account.. have you had a look at the other accounts?.. also, the user accounts icon is in your control panel.. plain as day.

As a limited account I can only manage my account and cannot see any others.

Can't you just log in to one of the other's?

your computer has an administrator account programmed into it, which you can use to make major changes to it.  try doing some research on that.  i've never had to use it, but remember when you installed XP it asked you for the password for the root administrator account?  yeah.  that one.
