To be fair, it WAS their first attempt at a motion picture and due to some internal problems, it became the Motionless Picture.  IMO, ST5 is the insult to Trek, as they should have been able to do better by that point.  Note to Trek producers:  Never Let Shatner Direct Again!

PS:Off topic, i just saw Aliens vs Predator, last night. Really cool movie! (As every Alien movie ever made, as always). But i didn´t like how she wore an alien head as a shield... Why didn´t she burn her hand, uh??

I'm guessing that it had the blood drained from it or something.  Anyway, perhaps the answers will be in the DVD.  You see, just a few weeks before it hit theaters, AvP was recut from an R rating to PG13.  As a result, its runtime was reduced and apparently, most of the "good" parts were removed or shortened, including sub-plots about the various characters, revealing that they didn't all die as fast as might have been implied.  This may be in the initial DVD release, or it may require a wait until a "Director's Cut" version.
