BTW, do you fellas know what format the sound f/x are in the Homeworld "Big" file ?

.aif or something like that.

You have to download the winamp aifr plugin from RDN. RelicNews or HWU might have it as well. Then you have to rename all the .aif files to .aifr to play them.

As for how this is going, I doubt anyone realises its back up yet.

Last I checked, I guess you could say we were in a very early alpha stage, working all of the bugs out of the ships we have done so far. That was a month or two ago though. I havent had the time recently to do anything. At. All. Hardly any time to myself even.

Well I'm back, for a bit.
I just finished a 25000+ word assignment and my head is throbbing though. :(
At least I'll have Halo2 very soon... :D

As for TAP we were working towards somekind of demo release. But things have slowed substantially because of HLP problems, and not to mention assignment time... :(
And I wouldn't hold your breath for too much waiting for work to pick up after Halo2 is released... :p

One thing I'm curious about, are you guys doin' a "true to Homeworld" conversion or are you modifing the meshes ?
(ie increasing the poly count, adding moe turrets etc)

Kind of a bit of both.
If we had the resources, we'd re-model every ship to be fully detailed including new and higher resolution textures.
As it is however, few members of the team remain, and most of the time are very busy with Real life work/school/all of above etc.

But we do hope to get a release out sooner or later... :D

*bumping an old thread but I don't care*

Figure you guys may have had some experience with this:

Used big viewer & penesound to extract the sound f/x. This created a "Playlist.m3u" file and all the s/fx (in .aifr) in the Sierra folder. I understand from RDN playing thses files wtites copies as .wav but for the life of me I don't where these files are being written to.

Can you help me out ?

Try opening the plugins options for winamp (I assume you're using that?) select the plugin and hit configure, it might be in there somewhere.

Just got it figured. I had to reinstall Winamp and reconfigure the preferences, as you said. Woohoo! (took me all friggin evening like....)

Hey, do you know of a program that can convert ogg to mp3?

I tried doing it with one program (can't remember / too lazy to check) but it came out poor quality.

I'm trying to get the Doom3 theme song in a quality mp3 format. :D

Anyway, I have noticed that TAP is shifting away from Cataclysm and is moving towards Homeworld 2.  Why not drop Homeworld and Cataclysm all together and focus on Homeworld 2?

Thus you'll have less work and a shorter campaign release time.

Thanks I'll try and find that Xilisoft...

Oh and the plan is kind of to focus on HW2 for now, but eventually we'd like to do up the old ships from HW1 and Cat to the same quality (worthy of SCP).
But that all depends on how well our eventual release or demo is liked first. :D
Hopefully sometime soon... :)
