You can get a relatively good CRT around $120 these days. It's really great that those ****ty TFT screens are so popular, it makes the CRT prices drop and drop :D

As for anything else, never should anyone buy an Intel Celeron processor :p

As for on-topic-ness.

Why don't you want to go with the original hi-polification? It looked, well, awesome, and not like that crap-o-tastic new one.

The monitor was actually pretty much the exact same one I have.

You're right. They do, don't they?

In the future, don't post so many piccies on one page. It KILLS my 56k!

[Edit] Which is a higher grade of CPU's? P4, or IC? (Intel Celeron) And don't say P4 becaues you like it!

Are you seriously asking if a p4 > celeron?  Wow.

Ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt... it goes like this:

AMD 64-bit > AMD Athlon XP > Intel P4 > AMD Duron > Intel Celeron

Greatest -> Worst

Dude, forget what everyone tells you. You need a 2600, an Atari 2600. There isn't nothing nowhere that will run as fast as that. Just think how fast Peasant's Quest could run on that thing!

:wtf: An ATARI 2600!? :wtf: Last I checked, Atari's don't even exist anymore.

Dude, we are soooo hijacking this **** thread.

[EDIT] **** you, Raa. :p

You can be jealous all you want, but a Celeron is really a crappy processor. It's Intel's bargain basement chip. And Although I may have a slight bias towards AMD, I know that my AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (which operates at 2.08GHz) outperforms my parents Intel Pentium 4 (which operates at 2.24 Ghz)

heh, I'm about 1700 MHz short of the P4 your parents have... and I'm 1 MHz behind you. 2.7 GHz is my speed, and I ain't lying. Dude, an IC is good enough for me right now, unless Mom decides to get me a real nice PC for Christmas. I already want one of those hot-rod laptops...

Oh, and Cobra... Anyone who measures performance in MHz core speed is either a fool, or just totally uninformed. :D

I have my P4 3.2 Ghz OC'd to 3.4 Ghz and i believe that it kicks a sufficient quantity of ass, thank you very much

You're joking right?  A P4 is in no way better than an Athlon XP...  AMD outperforms intel all the time...

Plus there's the fact that the AMD's don't need the extra 12v connections, or that they don't need a fan and heatsink 3x the size of the chip... :doubt:

64 bit is always faster than 32 bit, however it brings up compatibility problems.
"Gunnery control, fry that ****er!" - nuclear1

Erm, no.  64 bits doesn't really mean anything in terms of speed of CPUs.  The Athlon64's are faster in 64bit mode though because of the extra registers though.  Certain tasks are also faster in 64bit mode since the data being moved around are in 64bit chunks.

AthlonXPs were better than P4s up until Northwood was released.  Then P4s were better than AthlonXPs.  When the Athlon64 was released, it was better than P4s even in standard x86 stuff.  Switch to 64bit mode and make those extra registers available and the Athlon64 blows completely past the P4.

My Athlon XP 2800+ performs better than my parents P4 2.24Ghz Northwood chip. Granted, they don't have hyperthreading, but my chip is much quicker than theirs.
