In the report, author Eric Davis says psychic teleportation, moving yourself from location to location through mind powers, is "quite real and can be controlled." The 88-page report also reviews a range of teleportation concepts and experiments:
...
Davis, a physicist with Warp Drive Metrics of Las Vegas, couldn't be reached for comment. The Air Force paid $25,000 for the report, part of a $20.5 million advanced rocket and missile design contract. The report calls for $7.5 million to conduct psychic teleportation experiments.

and I dare anyone, anyone, to tell me that that military is not over-budgeted and that so much of what they do is not frivilous.

edit: someone please fix that to beam ME up, not be. Thanks.

Why do you need 7.5million? Give me a gun. I'll aim it at Eric Davis and pull the trigger. If he can psychically teleport himself out of the way then it works. If not, one less tard in the world.

Hey if you are a military with an uprecendented budget then you have room to do these things.  It may not be the case with this thing...but flight was considered impossible at one time too so spending a few million to see if some crackpot is actually right may not always be a bad thing.

Not like we'd do it here.  Barely able to keep helicopters in the air using conventional physics.

Not like Canada actually needs an army as such.
I say go the route of Sweden (or some equally peaceful Scandinavian country, I forget which one it was) and get rid of the military. Or at least the useless stuff like submarines and so forth. And scale back the rest.

well, we haven't really gotten rid of the military, I'm sure that none of the scandinavian countries has.

we have, however, downsized it a lot. but we still have our super high tech subs and our super high tech jet fighters. and then again, it's more of a defence force than an attack one anyways.

I think you guys have a better military setup than we do.  Not sure on the person for person but I'm fairly certain we fund our military less than you do.  Still, maybe we need to invest in Sweden military technology...the Gripen would probably be quite at home with Canadian landscape seeing as some of its going to be quite similar no doubt (similar latitudes in some areas) and operational requirements would be similar.

But we're trying to be in cahoots with the US as much as possible so that'll never happen.

I don't believe countries should throw their militaries away.  For one the military is a strong tradition.  It creates jobs.  It can be used for purposes that don't involve strictly military matters (i.e. cleaning up after floods, search and rescue, etc.).  But nobody should really need to have a large military.

But this is all OT.  Some guy is being funded by the US military to teleport people using minds :D

I've always wondered why they won't just do that with anybody who claims to have hocus-pocus powers.

Sweden has been successfully peaceful because nobody could afford to invade them, considering the entire male population could be called up for active duty in their army in such a circumstance. And most of the country is heavily mountainous, making it difficult terrain to attack through, but easy to defend.

I while back I decided that any time someone claimed to have psychic around me the conversation would rapidly go downhill.

Basically any conversation would go something like this.

Idiot : I have psychic powers
Me : The James Randi Foundation has offered $1m to anyone who can prove psychic powers. Why haven't you claimed the money.
Idiot : I don't need/want the money
Me : Give it to charity then. I know if I could raise $1m dollars for charity for only a few days work I'd do it.
Idiot : Errrrrrr...
Me : Why are you hesitating? Are you such a F**king scumbag that you wouldn't be willing to do the same?

What we need to do is have a few more people do the same thing. It would be the end of people claiming to be psychic. Cause quite frankly I'm sick of them.

It's not always that clear cut you know. I've gotten extreme deja vu all my life - not just a vague sense that I've done something/been somewhere before - I get it to the point where I'm able to predict what people are going to say 5 or 6 lines in advance. Problem is, it only tends to hit me irregularly, and, of course, only about five or six lines in advance, so it's not something you can generally pin down.

Can  prove it? No. Is it in any way useful to me? No. Is there something weird going on? Well, it seems so to me.

Could be you're just smart enough to figure it out :) Deja-vu is mearly the brain recording current events incorrectly so that you get the feeling you've seen them before. Combine that with a good sense of empathy and it's quite easy to think you can see where a conversation is going.

Besides it's not the minor stuff like that which gets on my nerves. It's the "I can talk to the dead" sort of stuff that annoys me.  Oh, and Uri Gellar. I've seen him appear on shows where he claims he was working for charity and I just wanted to ask him why he didn't go for the $1m dollars instead of the few thousend charity quiz shows get you.
