SG-1 Season 9 confirmed
http://gateworld.net/news/2004/11/scifirenewsisg-1iiatlantis.shtml

Season 2 of Atlantis, too.

Personally, I wanna see it all capped off. Jaffa freed, Goa'uld owned, what's up with those advanced-yet-stupid Asgard, and the crazy plans of the Replicators. Oh and yeah, where are the Furlings?

He'll show up in only four episodes on season 9, apparently.

Ugh, I imagined this would happen. SG1 isn't going to be nearly as good without him. :(

As an avid SG fan, I don't want to say this, but I fear Season 9 wont be very good. With Amanda Tapping's baby probably taking up a crapload of her time, and Richard Dean Anderson wanting yet more time away from the set, we're left with two characters who can have a lot of story devoted to them. Which means They'll need to bring in new characters as, IIRC, they've specifically stated Jonas wont be coming back, at least, not as a regular. Two core characters and a bunch of new ones? Not good prospects.

Still, this is Stargate, so I keep my hopes (and expectations) higher than for most.

X-files stylee (actually, the X-files fell apart and got dull even before the movie was out, so not strictly a valid point).  It all depends on good casting - if they get that right, then should be fine.

RDA is an executive producer on the show, also, at 54,  he's the oldest of the bunch by far and is probably tired of it.

I've found Atlantis thoroughly boring and directionless so far. Hopefully the second season will rise above the "Stargate Lite" level.

SG-1 was kinda dull in the beginning too.

Big Stargate fan.

I am kinda upset that season 8 has not even completely aired. I do not understand why they decided to air starting in July and then break. Shooting for the remaining Season 8 shows ended Oct 8, so we should be seeing them very soon, I would think. I read in SG magazine that these latter Season 8 episodes are suppossed to tie up a TON of loose ends, which is goos, since SG1 has TWO tons of loose ends.

Ya know, Jonus has been out as a regular character for a couple seasons now, so I do not see why this is a concern for Season 9.

With Amanda due in March, according to her official website, Micheal Shanks wanting to spend more time with his two kids, and RDA wanting more time for family, I think Season 9 will mostly center around taking a close look at Judge's character. Which is good, since we do not know much of Teal'c's 100 years of life. I suspect we will see Baal defeat the System Lords and then he himself getting pWn3d by the forces of Earth and the Asgard, thus the Replicators raking over as bad guys #1 for the last part of Season 9.

I wonder if the SGC will ever become public. I would like to see the characters get their due in the story world.

This sounds good...SG-1 still seems to have life in it.  BUT, I don't want to see them overdo it.  When its time to end it...its time to end it.  So perhaps they need to seriously tie things up over the rest of Season 8 and Season 9 and reach a conclusion.  Doesn't have to be a total conclusion but they need to find a very high note to end on.

Meanwhile, Atlantis, from what I've seen has been great and has lots of potential.

Sounds like an ideal subject for the series finale. After the SGC goes public, things would have to change so much it would hardly be the same show anymore.

I predict people looking up at an Asgard ship cruising over [major recognizable landmark] just before the final credits roll.

I heard the same thing Bob, but has it been confirmed? They still need to retake the city from the wackos holding it at the end of the Summer Season Finale (stupid stupid stupid)

Zylon, you read my mind! I tend to think that is how it will go out too. Anybody besides me think that saving Earth more times than can be counted is deserving of a CMH, yo? For the entire team, yo?

As far as Atlantis goes.... I am very sorry to say that I am FAR from impressed with it.

I think Atlantis is showing new episodes on Sky in the UK now. (If not I'd love to know what the source for the episodes I've downloaded is :D )

I can dream. ;) Also, perhaps for the first time ever, Australia is actually screening current-season SG-1 episodes on Thursday nights. They just showed Icon, which is alright - can't wait to see Avatar next week.
