I'm sorry, but any way you cut it, I think America still makes the best movies.

I agree, but in all fairness, this is only because America makes by far the most movies.

And even then, some of my favorite movies have been foreign films.

Best movie I've seen in theatres in the past year wasn't even in English... (As a note, it was Hero)

I thought the Indians made as many, if not a lot more movies than American studios?

If you want a truly excellent movie out now, try The Incredibles.  Lots of fun, no matter how old you are. :D

^^ Agrees. Best super hero movie ever made :D Sad part is, it's better than all of the Hollywood super hero blockbusters combined :)

Yes I loved that movie, but I like almost any movie I see.  I guess im just a sucker for movies.  I think the only one I saw recently that I didn't like was Chronicles of Riddick.

I liked National Treasure.  I doubt it's as good as the Incredibles (haven't seen it), but it was damn fun.  Sure, it butchered history (what movie of this type doesn't?), and it was filled with cliched characters and plot devices, but who the hell cares?  Grab a bag of popcorn and a big soda and sit back and enjoy it already.

And just remember, there are worse movies out there, much worse.

That's entertainment. It's perfectly acceptable for it to be mindnumbing.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Yeah, India makes a lot of movies, (a lot of good ones, I might add. Monsoon Wedding was great.) But they still don't have the same financial resources as Hollywood, so they can't make the wide variety of films that we can in America. You wouldn't see much in the way of science fiction coming out of India.

yeah, but no one said that America makes the highest budget films in the world, because no one would argue with that ;)

I just thougth that India made as many, if not more (granted, pretty low-budget ones for the most part, but still a lot of movies)

Uh, I doubt they've made more, considering Baliwood is relatively new.

Riddick had me groaning in the first five minutes. Now Pitch Black was a good cheesy monster movie, but Riddick? It fell apart with the whole evil-undead robot army thing and the mystical magical fairy lady thing, meaning it fell apart almost instantly as a movie.

They couldn't even pull it off with style, like Warhammer 40k which is so definately over-the-top that it's fun.
