The UN joins the fun....
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041214/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/haiti_violence

'PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - Hundreds of U.N. peacekeeping troops stormed a stronghold of ousted President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's supporters on Tuesday, seeking control of areas that have become flashpoints of violence. At least six people were shot. '

Hmmmm... Don't know the whole political situation here, but interesting nonetheless.....

The US appears to have a policy of putting their fingers in their ears and humming "la la la la la la la" with regards to haiti.  A year or two ago (something like that) there was some kind of uprising that made into the news for a couple minutes then everyone forgot about it.

Yes. And we didn't go "LALALALALA"...we sent some troops down there as peacekeepers.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

sad thing is, many just dont care. ask any dominican in nyc, they were all "Ja Ja ja!"...
