looking at the texture kinda makes me think that the model had much more smoother, curvy edges than it does now, and that theese curves were removed to lowewr its polycount during the development of fs1. si im putting them back in. im pretty much gonna re-model it from scratch using the original as a template.

yeah, that's what I siad, everyone should be starting from scratch, useing the origonal only as a guide for proportions and positions of details.

i used the original hecate model, but by the end i had pretty much replaced almost every poly on it

im using ilustrator to trace the contours of the details in the texture and importing those as a template and pretty much using the freehand tools to shape the 2s splines to fit the ship. then il import all the sections into max and combine them into a single model. then back to truespace for texture mapping. it should look pretty nice.

when you work on an old model you tend to inherit any bugs that it had, and then on top of that any bugs you manage to create. in the end your left with a model thats twice as buggy.

somone needs to account for all the hi poly models being made, whats being done, whats done already, and whos doing what, as well as reserve a particular model for yourself to redo. to avoid conflicts with people working on the same model. reason i picked the ulysses is so id be free to use it to make a hi-poly hellbat for nukemod r3.

As for the Zeus, well, why not post the model? It's hard to tell what a model's going to look like after it's been textured, before it's been textured.
