Crackling sound problems in FSOpen (all versions that I've tried)
I seem to be having a very odd sound problem.  It' s been going on for a while, never paid too much attention to it, but felt like bringing it up and search isn't presenting anything.

In some missions, sound effects seem to get corrupted at the end and this causes some nasty clicking sounds in the left channel.  It's not all missions, just some - the soundaffect for the sidearm laser is the most noticable effect.  Seems to happen on all builds from 3.5 to 3.6.5, and it happens whether I've got EAX on or off.

Setup is an A64 939 3200+, Neo2 Platinum, 1GB ram, Gforce3 Ti200, SB Live 5.1! Value.  Any ideas?

Tired the preload sound flag?

update the sound card drivers, this happened a few times to me, that fixed it, other than the times it was due to a hard drive malfunction or cpu overheating.

What sound setting are you on?  EAX (or was it Aureal...I forget) used to cause some problems in retail.

suposedly Aureal, but I had an Aureal card and I never had any problems with it, in fact it was _realy_ cool.

im getting some wierd sound issues as well. I dont know whats causing it, but the engine sounds appears to be cut short by a _lot_ and its looping every few milliseconds for me, causing a sort of dub-dub-dub-dub-dub sound which repeats very quickly.....

Unfortunately, this is a creative card - and given the way creative support works, the only way I'm gonna get new drivers is if I learn to write them myself, then do so.

I apparently had preload already set.  Turning if off helped a bit it seems, but didn't completely eradicate the problem.

I get it in all modes - DS, EAX and A3D all have the issue.

For now, it's not so bad though, except for the danged sidearm.  maybe I'll swap out the sound file to something that doesn't have the problem.
