I want to know if you could ask a Freespace pilot anything they'd be likely to know, what would it be?

And this is semi-serious, if you don't mind.

Just what is it like to do battle with Shivans? Do they still scare the hell out of you? Ever seen one cockpit-to-cockpit?

Actually, on that note, do you guys think we should be able to see Shivans through their cockpits? We could see Ash in his, and ships like the Scorpion certainly had cockpits. As has been said before, a Shivan seems to big to fit inside a fighter like a Dragon - just look at the ST movie where a Shivan jumped onto a Thoth fighter and destroyed it. The Shivan was almost the same size as the entire Vasudan fighter.

One of the theories fits in conjunction with the theory that the Shivans we see are just bio-suits or something like that - basically that the real Shivans are little dudes that fit into these suits (like the aliens from ID4), and that the little dudes can get out of their combat suits, and implant themselves into a fighter or bomber, just as if it were another, albeit different type, of suit.

It's completely possible that the Shivans seen in the FreeSpace and Silent Threat cutscene/video aren't the only type of Shivan that there is.  There could be various classes of the little things; one for piloting fighters, a worker type class, a close-combat soldier, etc.  I have absolutely no evidence to support this theory  , but there isn't anything against it yet.  Still, it could be an explanation as to how they squeeze the buggers into tiny fighters like the Dragon.  I guess they could just be really good at squeezing into tiny spaces as well.

As for asking a Terran Alliance pilot questions:

"Do you ever get disturbed shooting down other humans in the NTF-GTVA civil war?"

and....

"I've heard Admiral Petrarch and various squadron CO's aboard the Aquitaine say some pretty outstounding stuff about this 'Alpha 1' character.  Do you ever get jealous of this guys' extraordinary success?"

This is part of the Hive theory, I think. Not sure... have to dig up some stuff from the VBB.

Oh, and another question - what are your feelings on flying with Vasudan allies? Do they ever insult you, act condescending? Does it ever jeopardise mission success?

nah, I've read somewhere about volition saying that what we see are actual shivans, and we don't have to imagine anything else, something like that.
What to ask with a GTA pilot... have you seen lots of shivans flying inspace like in that cutscene? héhé, turkey shooting...

Q for the pilots: "Did you like more FS1 or FS2?"
Yeah, I know you were waiting for a very nice sig, in which I was quoting some very famous scientist or philosopher... guess what?!? I wont indulge you...

Why, you ask? What, do I look like a Shivan to you?!?

I said semi-serious guys.  Also, I'd prefer if you'd lean more toward FS1 than FS2.  You don't have to, of course, but it would be nice.

Maybe the fighters are shivans.

That idea has been considered before, and I've always liked it. Shivans living inside other Shivans, sorta like a cavalry thing...

I'd ask: how exactly DOES a subspace drive work?

Then make billions on the patent .

Ummm... tiny?? The Dragon is 16 meters long, 11 meters wide and 6 meters high! Think about it! Yes, it's smaller then the standard FS fighters, but still.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Do you prefer orange windows(as seen on the erinyes and pegasaus) or black windows?  Are you ever disturbed by the fact that the slash beams could discentegrate you without warning?  Do you have to use a ladder to get to the vasudan ready room(it seems to be built in to the side of the wall and raised high off the ground)

Still seems small in comparisson with the rest of the fighters.  And you have to remember that a Shivan, while not gigantic, is considerably larger than a human or Vasudan.  I don't know how big the Thoth is, but if you have Silent Threat take a look at the one movie where the Shivan splashes the Vasudan fighter and you'll see what I mean by "tiny".  While the Shivan may still be able to fit inside the fighter, there's obviously going to be other stuff packed inside the hull too like equipment, weapons, computers, the engine, and other subsystems.

According to venom2506's post, my theory about there being multiple classes of Shivans is wrong.  Thus, I'd have to conclude that the Shivans simply squeeze very tightly into the Dragon, assuming the fighters aren't drones or controlled by remote.

Ooooo, that'd be bad for the Shivans, but that's probably not the case, since the GTA and GTVA has captured several Shivan fighters, and if they still haven't figured out how to jam those remote control signals to disable Shivan fighters, they're most likely piloted.

Just some thoughts.

mmh, a shivan is not that big. The evidence? look:

Remember the ST cutscene is a leftover, they didn't keep it for some reason.
A shivan can fit in a Dragon w/o any pb, according to this pic. Damn you can put 3 shivans in it lol
