  • huh?.. Who?.. hey you kids, git off me lawn!
that enviromental mapping does indeed work with my card.. but only with specular enabled

see? (circled in red) that's a nearby planet...i think..

figured i'd give the SCP a heads up on what works, and what doesn't with the ATI cards as far as specular is concerned..
i'm guessing that it actually does indeed work, but it doesn't show because of that particular issue...

it's prolly moot anyway because of the planned shift to vertex shading anyways.

I've noticed this too. Env mapping works, but spec mapping doesn't.

Anaz would have spec if he downgraded back to cat 4.4's...

yeah, I know...but it's just too much of a hassle to switch drivers any time I want to play fs2

he's right, it's too much of a pain in the ass for some to switch to and from cat 4.4's and back to the more modern driversets

i'm more happy just waiting for vertex shading to be implimented

Why switch? Do things actually run worse with 4.4's? ATI suggests keeping your driver sewt, and only upgrading if you are having conflicts or performance issues...

^yeah, what he said^

environment mapping is sort of a subset of specular mapping, its embedded within the specular code and makes assumptions based on specular code haveing been executed.

Hmm. I've never actually compared the two. I'll have to try that some time.

Technically there's no reason to update Catalyst drivers.
