mmmmmm... could be good or could be awful.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Ugghhh, now they're exploiting the crusades?  What's next a kids musical about The Children's Crusade, perhaps the single darkest moment in Christian history save the Inquistion?

Gladiator was actually pretty good, but everything else on the 'sword and sandal' trail seems on a downward slope....

Or a comical one involving the Goose people followed?

Edit: Now just a damned minute. This looks like a complete bastardisation of my most studied period in history... They sound like the crusades were some sort of fight for individual freedoms!

Ah well, I'll still go see it since I've always wanted to see a hollywood level recreation of the crudsaders' battles.

Dude, are you seriously suprised?  Look at how Stone bastarized Alexander.  Don't you love historical revisionism?

Inquisition: the animated series

It's about heroic (cough) white people killing Muslims, it plays to the religious crowd; surely inevitable.

(and it's by Fox.... there was me thinking it was only their news channel......)

I've no doubt we'll see the triumphant liberation of Jerusalem by a strange commander from over the western sea, too.........oh, and every foreign person will have a thick english accent.  Because if it doesn't sound like an american accent, it must be what those strange crazy foreigners sound like!

(point in case; Enemy at the Gates)

Seeing as it's by Mr. Scott, I guess it has a better chance of not falling apart than Alex, Arthur, or Troy did. :-/

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Humm.... Tis looks interesting, but still a resounding "VAS?!" is boring through my mind. *Sigh*

Its sad to see production companies just jumping on the band wagon and going "Oooh! Big epic war scene movies! Lets make more!" Why not just go for the gold and do a Warhammer film! Now THAT would be cool. Biga huge million person armies filled with festering warriors of Chaos versus the Empire with huge cannons and pyschotic little dwarves flayling about with axes! :D *drool*
I have returned... Again...

Yes, but then they wouldn't have the controversy to drive the movie to the Must See list.

And yes, if they were truly about making a War movie and not a political statement, they'd go for the Triple Play and make a WH 40k movie.

Gigantic Epic Battles? check!
Pseudo-New Age philosophy story? check!
Sci Fi...IN SPACE? double check!

I don't even care that its about the Crusades. I just cant stand the cliched filth that spews forth from Hollywood every time they make one of these movies.

100% of characters speaking with British accent - check
central character as a simple man with goodness in his heart, who is also a great general - check
insiprational "Gladitor-like" speeches to army poised on the brink of battle - check
huge CG army shots, followed by quick-cut battle editing - check
hugely stereotypical enemy (german barbarians, arabs, egyptians etc) - check

For God's sake, the trailer even has a "walking through glowing field of wheat" scene stolen right from Gladiator, which I might add was a fine movie (I think I saw it about 7 time), not something which can be said of the pathetic attempts to mimick it (Alexander, Troy, Arthur, this...)

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.
