this ship uses an insanely high res texture (2048^2). the photoshop document was 170 megs when i finsihed it, 60 layers and about a hundred vector masks. 90% was rendered by using blending options for each layer and hundreds of premade patters which hav acunumated over time. i didnt implement proper shadowning, but thats just a mater of going through and figuring out what layers to apply iot too then seimply adjust blending oprions till it looks right. probibly not, minor details like that are unimportant, 90% of the time you see this thing is from a distance.
im trying to add a cockpit to the pf shagrath now, its moddeled and uv mapper, i pulled the chair out of this ship and remodeled it to fit the new cockpit. i need to re-uv map the thing and then cut and paste the texture parts to a new image. its gonna be cool cause the shagrath has miniguns that potrude out past the eye point, so you will be able to see them from the first person perspective.. the shagrath has a bubble cockpit so it shouldnt suffer the same clipping errors.
