and its crashed! I got all of the needed files (zpack and the installer) then played the training but on the first real mission, the game crashed on me.

What should be the problem?

It can't be my hardware...

It could be that there's a model missing from the media vp's; specifically the alt-textured cain.  I don't think that'd cause a crash in the first mission, but it's possible.

Did you just get a crash and nothing else? No error message popping up on screen? Try it again without mv_music.vp as that's exactly what I'm getting.

EDIT : Hmmm. You're using the ZPack. I don't know if the music files are in that.

Hmmm... ok, I'll try and play without the music vp. There was no error messages when it crashed.

Ok, it works without the zpack and music installed. But whats the point of playing on source if their are no changes from the zpack?

Try the separate VPs, which, added up, basically have all the same content as the zpack. I also had trouble with ZPack, and that helped, for some weird reason.

The zpack is just the sum off all the other?
No wonder that it caused trouble when used with the others together.

In case you're referring to my post, Norbert, then you misunderstood me. ZPack didn't work, the single VPs worked. Might have been a screwed download.

For me the ZPack didn't work either.
And I had it additional to all the other VPs.

I had this same exact problem and it's the music .vp in the zpack.vp. Download this file  and put it in the freespace/data/tables folder. This is fixed the problem for me.

*shrug* i extract all the VP files into my data folder. tis easier to deactivate tables then. or remove a single file.

I have downloaded all of he vp's individually now. It looks pretty awsome

I am still having a few problems:
1. The voices have echos (really annoying )
2. The interface (when not in space) has blue lines around the buttons
3. The text has wierd lines around it. Sometimes the text is upreadable.

Blue lines (and probably the text lines) sound like antialiasing errors.  Echoes sounds like an inadvertantly activated EAX effect.

Do you have the -pcx32 or -pcx2dds flags activated?

Yep,  -pcx32 is on but the other one isn't. What will this do?

So how can I deactivate the EAX?

I fixed the AA problem. I had activated it thought the ATI CCC to force apilcations to use it.

Turn off -PCX32 it's a big waste of memory. In fact I'm surprised that the launcher entry hasn't been changed into "Don't turn this on. It seemed like a good idea at the time....."

As for EAX go to the audio tab in the launcher and choose DirectSound instead.
