Missions That Came With The Game - help

Hi, is there anyway i coudl edit some of the mission that came with the game.  I have had a look but can't seem to find any, do i actaly have to do the mission in question for it to show up.  

Reason why i want to access the orignal mission are

A) to see how a profestional one is done

B) edit 1 for a mission i am creating

I'm pretty sure you'd just need to extract them from root_fs2.vp with the vp tool of your choice, and then open them up in fred.

thanks, i using the one i found on sector game website.  Are there any new ones, most of the file i was looking out where release aroudn the same time fs2 was released now we have fs2 open have they been updated or replaced with different and better programs?

Let me pass along something to you that i learned the hard way: DON'T try to copy a professional mission. Reason: you don't wanna know.

The last line of your post: what was that one for? are you talking to me?

phatosealpha: not that simple. well, you have most of it right, anyway. it takes a lot longer. FRED doesn't open it automatically, unfortunately. you have to open it *gasp* MANUALLY!

nope Cobra comes frim my gaming name, SF Cobra i also use it as my alais, also they named a squad after me in SF and Dmien Squad did not work as well as Cobra Squad  


keep forgetting that there another cobra here, COuld have Fishboy squad but that was worse than Damien lol (fishboy was a nick name given to me by my freids due to my love of fishing )

The VP format hasn't changed since FS2 came out so there hasn't been much need to change the tool for looking at them. On the other hand I believe that someone posted a new VP tool only a few days ago.

There's QuickVP, and VPMage, which can also edit VP files as well as view them.

Using VPView is probably best though, so you don't mess up Freespace by accidentally deleting a needed file.

it happens on lots of baord, people choose the same alais so the person  that comes second takes 1 or 2 and so on
